Traveling in December

My brother and I traveled today to see my daughter and her husband. We wanted to see how they had decorated their home for Christmas. The weather was 48 degrees and sunny and it was just beautiful driving there. It takes about 2 hours to get there and there was no snow. This is very unusual for us in December as we usually have about 13+ inches of snow in December. We love it!!! It was a great trip and visit and all their Christmas decorations were just beautiful. I am so glad we got to go. Living in this State, it is highly unlikely we could go again till Spring as I am sure after New Years chances are we will get more snow than we want.

Baby Blankets

My granddaughter just had a new baby boy and some of her shower gifts were baby blankets. When her first baby was expected, I was just sure she was going to have a girl. So I thought baby girl blankets were the gift to get because surely, I didn't want to get blue ones which would be for a boy. I knew I was taking a chance but I was right and she had a girl. Baby blankets have been used for as long as I can remember and I am sure they were used way back before that. Have you ever looked up blanket history? It is really quite interesting. Some things that I would have called blankets are really sheets and vice versa. I know though that baby blankets are one of the best things every new mother should have to wrap her new baby in.

Snapdragon Stadium

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Snapdragon by Qualcomm for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Since l997, the San Diego stadium has been named Qualcomm, but they have decided that from December 18 through December 28, it will be renamed Snapdragon.   Because  Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm are the digital brains inside mobile devices made  by 30 manufacturers, they want to get the name out there for the public to realize that their smart phones, tablets, etc. contain the Snapdragon  multiprocessor that is designed especially for mobile applications.  They want people to ask if Snapdragon is inside the devices they buy, before they buy them.  By bringing the sports lovers to watch the Chargers vs Baltimore on December l8, and two more college bowls, one on December 21 and another on December 28, they should have a huge audience to let lots of people know that Snapdragon is the heart of their smartphone and other mobile devices.  Great brands like HTC, LG, Nokia and Samsung all have the Snapdragon multiprocessor inside them.  Advantages are longer battery life and all the other features you want most.  Qualcomm's brand name is Snapdragon, however, it stopped being a consumer name back in 2000 and now they want to get its name before the public by taking this short time to publicize Snapdragon and help people realize just what they are buying.  We all want the best and this should bring Snapdragon to everyone's attention.

One is Missing

We had a wonderful Christmas again this year. However, one was missing. My husband should have been there but he went to Heaven in September instead. I am sure he was having a wonderful time in Heaven with Jesus but we missed him. It takes a very long time to get over that great big void he left in our lives. Life goes on and sometimes it is almost as if he was never here. Then again, his absence is bigger than life.

Fajita Burrito

Last night I went out to the new Mexican place in town. I had a fajita burrito and it was huge along with rice and beans. I had enough left over for another meal. So I got a box and took the rest home. The restaurant was full and as the booths emptied, more people came in. It has been in town about 3 years now and it takes a long time to take hold in our little town for some reason. But now it looks like they are doing a thriving business. I am very happy for that.

Mexican Lunch

I have been trying to get into the habit of going over to my brother's home each week. We go out to a place close by that has great Mexican fast food. He loves the tacos with such hot sauce, I could hardly eat them. But I soon learned to get the medium sauce and try the super buritos that are excellent. Our favorite dessert is churros and we look forward to having these each time we eat there.

Video Games

Written by my friend Teodoro Martin

I thought gaming systems were for kids until I got married and learned that grown men are playing these video games! I am sitting on the couch just wanting to watch DIRECT TV but instead my husband is playing Modern Warfare. Let me just paint this picture for you. He is a thirty year old man, sitting on the couch wearing a headset playing a video game. He plays online with other people, most of whom are his other grown men friends. They actually talk smack to each other while they are playing the game. I always try and talk to my husband when he is playing. It is so hilarious to watch him try to act like he is paying attention to what I am saying when I can see that he isn't. The best is when he has to answer a question and he covers the microphone on the headset to answer me. As if he is embarrassed to be talking to his wife! Do boys ever grow up? I can't really say anything though because it isn't like he plays all day and he usually waits until I am in bed to play.

Visitor

I had a visitor today. My daughter drove over to see me and spend the day. That is always great. We went to the nearby town and joined her twin sister for lunch. We had a great nice long visit. It is too bad everyone is that far apart that we can't do that more often. It was a cloudy day but the rain stopped overnight and roads dried off good so it was good driving for my daughter. It looks like the sun would like to come out now that it is almost sundown but I don't think it is going to make it.

Fresh Eggs

My niece lives on an acreage. She has quite a few chickens and they are really laying. She has been keeping her Dad and me in eggs for some time now. I also get enough to share with my daughter and granddaughter. With all the Christmas baking that is going on, you can really use a lot of eggs in a hurry. It is nice to know they are fresh and organic too.

Baking Cookies

I bought some cookies from the Girl Scouts that were already made and frozen. They are so handy to have in your refrigerator freezer or freezer. You just get them out, open the box, put them on cookie sheets and bake. I got the chocolate chunk cookies. Last night I decided it was time to get them out and bake some of them. I like to share them with my neighbor. They are really good and full of lots of chocolate chunks. And who doesn't love chocolate? A hot cup of tea and a cookie or two and your favorite book or TV program and you have it made.

Car Accidents

Because we got rain on Saturday, it froze and turned into ice on everything. Then the snow started. It was pretty to see even the trees were white because it stuck to them. However, after all the snow fell, it became treacherous driving and there were many accidents. Several people were killed in car accidents. That is so sad, especially in the Christmas season to lose a loved one in a car accident.

Vacation

I just took a vacation in Branson, Missouri. The weather there was just about the same as it was here at home. We expected it to be a little warmer but I was dressed for it. We went to see Soji Tabuchi, the number one show in Branson. They are known all over for their gorgeous restrooms. And that was correct. They have beautifully decorated Christmas trees and many other Christmas things to see. I heard one of the men say there was a pool table in the men's room. The show was unbelievable. I do not like violin playing but he did it so well and in such an entertaining way with amazing sets and beautiful costumes. It would be hard to describe it all to you.

Thanksgiving Food

What would Thanksgiving be without lots of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy? We also had pumpkin, french apple pie, cherry pie, chocolate cream and a Reeses cream pie. But don't forget the pretzel sticks dipped in frosting and sprinkles and also little pretzel squares with frosting inbetween. Homemade Reeses cups and a sweet chex mix and you couldn't find room to taste it all. We played games, painted pictures, took pictures and had many laughs and an all around good time was had by all.

Fresh Squash

My neighbor brought me two nice buttercup squash. I baked them and then froze some of it for later. It is just delicious. It is so good with lots of butter. But also delicious with some brown sugar on it. It makes a great side dish and easy way to get your vegetable. It is so nice to have good neighbors share their gardens with you.

Puppies vs Babies! The Ultimate Showdown

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Puppies vs. Babies for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now here is a really fun contest.  Have you every thought about whether Puppies vs. Babies are cuter?  Some babies are just little dolls from the second they are born, however, there are many babies who are just the opposite.  They are all red and only a mother could love those little faces.  Some people think all babies are so cute but I like to be honest.  I am not going to say they are cute when they are not.  This contest is to determine once and for all which is cuter so they have a  Puppies vs. Babies online contest and it is so easy to go online and vote for which you think will win the prize so hurry and get your vote in now.  Get your votes in by November 23, and let everyone know which you think will win. And put your comments down too.  The winner will receive $5000.  Isn't that a great prize?  My Holly is a little Boston Terrier and her face is white, the opposite of most Boston Terriers.  She is so different, you just have to love her.  She is so smart too and learns tricks very quickly and she gives you unlimited love. I think if I had been quicker, before the contest closed, I could have entered her picture in the PvB-CuteDar-Green-300x250-Backup.jpg contest and everyone would have voted for her.

Chanhassen Theater, Minnesota

I took a bus trip yesterday to Chanhassen Theater in Minnesota. It was sponsored by our bank. It is for senior citizens and we had a bus full. We had a great lunch and saw a very energetic musical. They said Chanhassen is the largest theater of its kind in the United States. I did not know that and was really surprised to learn that. If you get a chance, go see a show there.

Frost on the Pumpkins

Boy did it get cold here. A big cold wave went through and took all our lovely warm Fall weather with it. We had a very heavy frost on everything. It was time to turn on the furnace and turn up the thermostat. Out came the winter coat and it was time to switch from shorts to slacks and jeans. Then they predicted rain and maybe snow flakes but we were lucky and it didn't happen. We just got a little rain.

Fun Week

This has been a fun week. I have been busy every day. It sure makes the time fly by. My calendar was marked full of activities. Spending one whole day with a daughter and going out of town and shopping several stores was really neat. We ate out and had a great visit. Then my other daughter had me join them for supper yesterday and got to have a couple of the great grandkids join us too. That was an added happy surprise. They are so cute. Going to be 2 soon and 4 years old. Both their birthdays are this month.

NET 10-OCTOBER

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Net10 for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Since we had a death in the immediate family, we used all our cell phones to the maximum and the bills were horrendous.  We had to make so many calls both nationally and internationally and wow! did the bills pile up.  We were texting back and forth between family members until the costs were prohibitive and we knew we had to do something and do it quickly or go broke just because of the phone bills.  Then we discovered Net 10 through a good friends.  Their unlimited plan can't be beat.  You get unlimited texting, nationwide calling and lots more,  You have no contracts or credit checks either and we didn't need to worry about being surprised about our bill because it was $50 a month. You can even switch plans if you want to.  We quickly found out  What Rob has to say  about getting a really great phone at very little cost and no two year contract.

With thousands of stores to purchase a great phone for a whole lot less money, we were even able to get a smart phone and best of all phones for the kids.    They were texting like crazy and texting was unlimited with Net 10.  We listened to what a  Real NET10 customer had to say about it and we were immediately sold.  I love having a clear sound on my phone, no calls dropped and I can take pictures with my camera and send them out so clearly.  Please check into Facebook and Twitter and see if I am correct in recommending Net 10.   Young people love it as much as older folks.

Husbands

If you have a good husband, treat him right. Give him all the love you can while you can. Once they are dead, they are gone forever. My husband left for Heaven on September 8 and it has been a month and a half already. Time sure flies. This picture was taken on August 6 and we had no idea he had such short time to live.
Life is very uncertain so enjoy every moment while you can and be ready to go to Heaven when you die by repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus into your heart.

Cold Weather

The days are changing fast. We have had lots of high winds that really took all the leaves off the trees very quickly. The nights are down to freezing and today the furnace had to run to keep it at least 69 in the house. The sun is out but it isn't warm. The flowers have pretty much frozen off and we know it won't be long and the snow will be falling. I didn't used to mind it because it seemed you could always dress plenty warm but in summer you never dress cool enough. But I guess as I age, I hate to see winter come. My husband always hated winter and this year he won't have to put up with it. I know it is much better in Heaven.

Say yes to the Dress

Guest post written by my buddy Bernardo Graham

I have a friend at work whose brother is getting married next month. She is in the wedding as a bridesmaid and she told me yesterday that she is going to be on the show “Say yes to the dress bridesmaids”. It is supposed to air in the spring, so I will have to check my directv channel guide to make sure I don’t miss it. She actually did not want to be on the show, but she was the only bridesmaid who felt that way, and they could not be on the show unless all of the bridesmaids participated. So she decided that she would agree to going on the show. After all, she is about to gain a sister-in-law and does not want to start off on bad terms. I will be interested to see how the show portrays each bridesmaid. I have seen the show before, and it usually makes it seem like some kind of argument or drama takes place with each wedding party. My friend said that the producers were asking her questions like, “You don’t like the dress, do you?” and saying things like, “The bride told us you are unhappy with her for making you be in the wedding.” Neither of those were true, so she is anxious to see how the show portrays her.

Off to Arizona

Our former neighbors left for Arizona this morning. She called me over to take home a lot of groceries they couldn't take along. I filled up 5 bags full and then went to my daughters and left her quite a lot of it. Came home and unpacked the rest and shared some asparagus with my neighbor who has always been so good to share with me in the Spring, when they pick it fresh. This was frozen and they will really enjoy it. Took another neighbor a couple of things too that I couldn't use and they were happy too. It was a busy morning.

Taste the Fun of T.G.I. FRIDAY'S "Entrees for One"

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of T.G.I. FRiDAY'S for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Gals, hurry out to your local grocery store and pick up a couple of  T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One”  like I did.  I surprised my husband with Sesame Orange Chicken for supper the other night and he could not believe how good it was.  He thought it was much better than the last meal we had out at the local Chinese Restaurant.  However, before you do that, take a minute and go to Facebook and vote between Oct 7 and Oct 20 to see who should win their freezer fun contest.  Just check into  Fun Freezer contest  and vote for your favorite.  I have also purchased Entrées For One and we both thought it was delicious.  I want to try all the flavors as they are good portions, great taste and make a delightfully easy supper.  My husband is really eager to taste the Entrées For One and the Entrées For One because they he feels they sound delicious and could be some of his most favorites of all.  He's so happy to come home to a healthy, hearty meal that can be fixed in minutes when we both work.  It so often finds us too tired to cook and the flavors of these new entrees are just amazing.   Thus far our favorite has been

Baby Hats

It is so much fun attending baby showers. There is always such a wonderful variety of baby clothes and among them cute baby hats. I know people with a great deal of talent choose to make their own baby hats for baby showers, but I love to shop and so I also love to shop for knitted baby hats in the wintertime because I know they will keep the babies head nice and warm. I love to buy little outfits that match and if you know it is a girl or boy that is expected, then you can carefully choose just the cutest baby hat to go with their outfit. I think most women enjoy a baby shower more than many other kinds of showers and parties. Having had 5 children of my own, it is always fun to see how the styles have changed and the delightful colors that are available now. It is so much fun shopping for baby hats.

My Dear Husband

My dear husband left me a little over 3 weeks ago for his home in Heaven. He hated winter and he won't have to go through another one. For that I am thankful. His birthday was Friday and he spent it with Jesus. I can't imagine what a wonderful birthday he had. I don't suppose he even knew it was his earthly birthday but there is so much about Heaven that we don't know so maybe he did.

I know he was greeted by 2 of his children and many brothers and sisters and parents and the grandparents he never got to meet. They were already gone when he was born so he never had the joy of having grandparents. We have 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren that had the privilege of being held by their grandpa before he went to Heaven. We are so thankful for our wonderful family.

New Kittens

What fun our great grandsons are having with their new kittens. As you see here they have their arms full.
they live on an acreage so they are able to have all sorts of animals to enjoy. They also have a beautiful rabbit and some chickens. The chickens are starting to really lay eggs now so that is great because their mother is a wonderful baker. It is great to have your own fresh eggs.

2STRAIGHT TALK - SEPTEMBER

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was totally shocked when I received my latest cell phone bill.  After a death in the immediate family, I used my cell phone as never before.  The calls were coming, the texts were flying, and I didn't know how to reach my best fiend who had moved to Japan, as the cost was was prohibitive.  Then I found Straight Talk for an unbelievable $45 a month or unlimited messaging and texts for  $499 a year and I was chose it   Hook, line and sinker Why would I choose them, because I could get 1000 texting, 1000 minutes and a great deal more.  I could Call a friend at last because the international calls are at good low rate. And I can call Internationally almost anywhere.   What more could I ask?  Plenty.  They also furnish Android on Straight Talk   and I could choose my new phone from a great selection of smart phones.  There was no contract, no activation and reactivation and not a whole bunch of extra charges for terminating your contract.  I could even get a phone for as little as $10. Now try and beat that anywhere.  I could see where I could take that trip to Branson on the money I was going to save because my bill was half what it used to be.  I was delighted.

Parades

Parades are so much fun. I think when you are a child they are even more fun or the most fun of all.

Here you see two of our great grandsons watching the parade. It is a new experience for them. They are really excited. It is so much fun to see a parade through the eyes of a child. They get so excited. If we could only see things the way they see them, I think we would enjoy them even more.

T.G.I. FRIDAY'S "Entrees for One"

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of T.G.I. FRiDAY'S for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

T.G.I. FRIDAY is having a great fun decorate your freezer contest.  Be sure to check it out on Facebook and enter the contest with a pictures of your freezer and you will be eligible to win some wonderful prizes.  You will even have a chance at  a Home Theater Makeover by entering this  Fun Freezer contest .  Having become a widow recently, I had begun trying out the various types of one dish meals because they were quick to fix and so much less work than trying to make something with a variety in it without buying a large quantity of ingredients that I would probably never get used up.  I have to admit that I was not having much luck finding freezer foods that were really tasty and that I would ever want to eat again.  The package was inviting but the food inside was awful.  Then I discovered the new  T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One”.  I was more than delighted at the big variety available in my little local grocery store.  The first package I bought was the Sesame Orange Chicken.   What a delightful dish and so easy to make in my microwave.  I am enclosing a picture of the package here.

Rain at Last

We are getting some much needed rain. It was mostly like a mist most of the day but then it began to rain. Just a good soaking rain. We really need it bad. It always seems to go around us. South of us they were getting all kinds of rain and they said our air was so dry here, it just wasn't hitting the ground. The Mums are just beginning to bloom good. Guess we are to get some 70's this week instead of 50's and 60's.

Rosetta Translation Services

In London, you will find Japanese translations easily done by a company that can provide you with a quick quote for the Japanese translations that you require. It is just a matter of contacting their well qualified team of Japanese translators to help you accomplish the task you have at hand. Perhaps you are in need of a medical translation or a legal translation. This is the company for you. They provide Japanese translations worldwide, not just in London. It does not matter whether you have a simple or complex assignment for them to translate. They have the best in interpreters and it is very easy to obtain a quote for them. When you have about 150 million people in Japan alone, speaking Japanese, then you better have good Japanese translation services that can do an outstanding job for you.

Nurses

We have had a number of nurses come to the house. My husband is very ill with prostate cancer. If any of you men are reading this, please get your PSA test by the time you are 50. My husband is 83 and he has a very rare form that is untreatable. It has gone into the muscles and is very quick to kill you.

Husband Sick

My husband has been sick now for at least a month. He has had so much nausea and they couldn't seem to find a cause. He spent two separate weeks in the hospital. They finally came up with the diagosis of congestive heart failure. He has all kinds of oxygen equipment now. We even have a tank in case the lights go out. It is a big help to have the County Nurse come in also to check on him.

L - Hill's Pet Nutrition

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hills Pet Nutrition for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We dog owners love our pets so very much.  They become a big part of our families and we want to keep them as healthy as we possibly can.  Truly, we have been customers of Hill's various varieties of dog foods for many year.  Did you know you can find  Hill's Pet Nutrition on Facebook  ? Check into it and just click on "Like".   I was checking out Hill's Mobility Challenge and I found out they have all kinds of neat stuff for you to look into.  There is a  Hill's Healthy Mobility Coupon where where you can register.  By registering you can receive $30 in coupon offers and that is a lot.  It means I can save quite a bit on my next purchases of the best food my dog, Holly, just loves.  But not only that, by registering it puts you in their sweepstakes. How would you like to win a year's worth of free pet food.  There will be 30 winners of that free pet food and I hope to be one of them, how about you?  Hill's has thought of everything and by checking out Hill's Pet Nutrition you are able to find out so very much information that you may not have been able to find elsewhere.  Your pet will love you for it.  Our little Holly loves good dog treats and she can sell the package they are in.  The other day I heard her digging around in the recycle sack and she had never done that before.  I finally figured out that she could smell the empty treat bag so I took the sack out to the garage.  Well that is where she does her "business" and wouldn't you know, she could smell that bag out there.  I finally had to put it way up high where she couldn't get at it :0)

Family Visit

Our granddaughter, her husband and two children came to visit this afternoon. Our daughter also stopped in and we kept her dog, Zoe, for her for a couple of hours. She is a pretty white Bishon and she is such a good little dog. The two great grandchildren were a delight. Little Kaelyn is going to be 4 in November and can she talk. It is amazing how clearly she talks and she comes up with amazing answers. Her little brother is growing up too so quickly. He is going to be 2 and a new baby brother or sister is on the way too. It was so much fun having them for a visit.

STRAIGHT TALK - AUGUST

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you are like me, you do not enjoy being locked into a two year contract.  Then they limit your minutes, times when you can call, number of texts you can make.  The next thing you know, you are dreading to receive your next cell phone bill because you are not sure of how many calls you made, etc.  Now there is Straight Talk that has everything you need. So many companies have such poor connectivity and drop your calls at the most inopportune times. Not with Straight Talk.  Everything comes in so clear and they only use the best phones with all the best apps you want. I know you want to have plenty of call time.  How about 1000 minutes and 1000 texts.  All this for only $45 a month or unlimited picture messaging and web for $499 for a year.  You can call a friend because there is all the International Calling you could want.  Just think of the money you can save without paying activation fees, reactivation or even termination fees.  You can get that new outfit you've been wanting or accessories for your vehicle or even upgrade your vehicle.  If you have kids in the house that you want to have a great phone then mom knows best because she will get Straight Talk and be able to purchase reconditioned phones for only $10 and they have all the bells and whistles that a new phone would have.  They would have plenty of texting, instant messaging and that's only a few of the benefits of Straight Talk.  The money saved will buy all those groceries that growing kids make disappear so quickly.  It is also good to know there is no extra charge for 411 calls. I know if I can cut my cell phone bill in half or perhaps even more, then I am totally sold  on Straight Talk  Hook, line and sinker. I know I have only touched on their many benefits but it is easy to check out yourself.

Blood

Do realize how serious it is to pass blood in your urine. There is a good reason for it and you better get to the doctor or ER. My husband has been passing blood clots and he also had a severe ache in his back. We never thought of kidney stones until this morning. He passed 2 clots and with much pain and since then the blood has stopped. I called the hospital and they said to go to ER but now he seems to be OK so will wait a bit longer. It is nothing to mess with though.

Nice Weather

We are finally getting a break in the very extremely hot weather. It was in the 70's yesterday with a brisk wind. Today it is 74 and the wind has let up. Therefore, it is quite a bit warmer feeling but still nice. It is great to have the windows open and let fresh air. It is the first time in weeks that we have been able to do that. It has its good points and bad points because if you have allergies, the allergy ratings are high. So opening the window lets in more pollen. However, it sure is nice sleeping at night in the 50's with the windows open and cool enough for a light blanket.

Missing Holly

We sure do miss our little dog, Holly, since we had to put her to sleep. She had liver problems and other things. She was always there to help you clean up the crumbs you dropped on the floor. She loved her slice of American cheese at a certain time every morning and let you know if you forgot. It was funny too that if you fell asleep in your chair, she would stand by your chair and give a little bark to wake you up. It was fun to pretend you were asleep just to have her do that. It is too bad dogs don't live a healthy life for at least 50 years.

Good Neighbor

We have some really good neighbors. One of them brought me some home grown lettuce, cucumbers and her tomatoes are almost ready. She is so good to bring us fresh vegetables. I, in turn, bake and give her cookies and cake and things she doesn't have around her house because her husband is diabetic. It is fun to exchange things like that. I also help her out with a ride uptown now and then when she needs one.

Actos Lawsuit

Are you a diabetic? Have you been taking an oral diabetic medicine called Actos? It is also known by the names of Competact and Duetact and ActoplusMet. It has been shown now in testing that it is a dangerous drug and has caused heart attacks and even advanced bladder cancer. If you feel you may have a case, then you may want to check out the Internet and look into the Actos lawsuit. A good experienced firm of attorneys would be able to tell you if you have a good case against Actos. I certainly hope they get it off the market if they have not done so already before more people have these terrible side effects.

Sweet Corn

We kept watching for the sweet corn to come into our local grocery store. The kind that comes there is always the best. Well, we waited and waited. Finally we saw a truck in another town and got some there. We ate all but 2 ears and Jake's sweet corn came in and I bought it at the local grocery store. I no sooner had it in the refrigerator when a neighbor came with more sweetcorn that they had just picked out of the field. All of a sudden we had more sweetcorn than the two of us knew what to do with so we gave away some to a neighbor. Tonight, guess what is for supper?

Cleaning House

I have been going through closets and throwing out stuff I saved and can't figure out why. I have a couple sacks to take to Goodwill so someone can get some use out of these things. It is amazing what you save thinking you might use it or need it someday. It is kind of fun too to get rid of some things around the house you have had for 30 years and get something new to look at for a change. It is good for your morale.

Avastin Lawsuit

It seems that a great many women in their 40's and 50's are being hit with breast cancer. The local obituaries carry the names of one or two almost every day. I wonder if they took the drug Avastin to help stop the cancer and prolong their life? Although it seemed like a wonder drug to slow the growth of the cancerous tumors, it was found that it did not help to prolong life. Now there is an Avastin lawsuit because they discovered very severe side effects, as well as, not prolonging life. Why take it at all if it isn't going to help you live longer? Not only that but those taking it didn't know it but they were risking heart failure, high blood pressure and many other severe side effects. Do you have a case? Why not check into the Internet to find an experienced firm of attorneys who can assist you and give you a free consultation and find out if you have a case?

Net 10 2

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Net10 for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

How many times have you been locked into a cell phone contract and could not get out of it without paying a huge fee?  It is so aggravating to think that you have purchased a new phone at great expense and then find out you have to pay extra for unlimited texting.  Or perhaps you have relatives overseas and the costs of calling them prohibit you from doing just that.  Well it is about time for  you to    see the Light and check into Net 10.  What a great deal. For just $50 a month you can have unlimited calling nationwide with data and text also.  They have a number of plans to choose from and none come with a locked in contract.   For only $15 a month you can have 200 minutes or you might choose to pay as you go and any minutes you do not use will carry over. Another great feature is that they use only the best phones and you can get a simple one for $15 or a one with lots more features for only $40.  I do not think you can find a deal like this anywhere.  Check out what a real NET10 customer has to say about their phones, plans and how great the service is. Be sure and check them out on Twitter or Facebook too.  You can change plans at anytime and you will never pay a fee or penalty.

Boston Terrier Holly

Holly was the best little dog we have ever had. She was so kind and played with the little kids and big kids alike. She never once ever even acted like she might bite. You could take her food away from under her nose and she would wait till you gave it back. Now how many dogs will do that? We had her put to sleep yesterday due to health reasons and feel she is the last little dog we will ever have. We miss her.

Heat Wave

I think this is the worst heat wave we have had since I can remember and that is a lot of years. It just stays over most of the United States week in and week out. It does not cool down enough at night to really enjoy being outside them. The humidity is terrible. We had a hard wind today that was supposed to be less humidity but I could not tell it when I was out. It is supposed to cool off 10 degrees tomorrow but I don't think that will be enough.

Waiting for the Parade

Everyone loves a parade and in the summertime, it seems every small town around here has a celebration and a parade. Here is our daughter with one of her little grandsons, waiting for the Parade.
They always get excited when candy is thrown out to them and as they get bigger, they get more excited it seems. As for me, if I never see another tootsie roll again, it will be too soon :0).

Little Waiter

Here's a picture of our little great grandson practicing to be a waiter. It looks like he has it down pat. He's seen them bringing the plates and knows just what he has to do.

They have so many fun toys now for kids to play with. They have quite a little kitchen and when we have been there, he wanted to cook and bake for us. It was fun to watch him baking cookies in his play oven. He didn't want us to leave:0)

Dangerous Heat

It is 92 degrees right now. That is way too hot for this area. The humidity is going up fast and the weekend looks to be really hot and humid. There is a big carnival and celebration going on in the next town but it is too hot to be outside. Good heat stroke weather. Staying in the air conditioning with the shades down until the sun goes down. Want to go see fireworks on the 4th if it gets down in the 80's and we can stand it. Also family reunion on Saturday but it is out on a farm and lots of room for breeze which makes quite a difference.

Moving on up!

Guest written by our friend Gladys Fuentes

When I moved to Carolina, I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do. I thought about going back to teaching and I also wait with the idea of getting into real estate, but when it came down to it, I knew it was time to finally start my store. I've been putting it off for a long time, but my heart has always been in retail and now was as good a time as any. After I found a space to rent in a couple of really good suppliers, I started working on the logistics. This included hiring two people to help me work with store, researching credit card processors at more and consulting with a tax attorney to make sure I had all my bases covered when it came to paying the bills. The store has officially been open for three weeks now and business is doing better than I expected. TheWho knew that taking this tiny leap of faith would be the best decision I ever made?

Pretty Bubbles

Doesn't this look like fun. It is a beautiful day to play outside. Mom is making lots of bubbles for these little ones to chase. They can spend a lot of time doing this. It gives them plenty of fresh air and sunshine and is a simple joy to do. It does not take a lot of expensive toys to always make the most fun. Everyone enjoys making bubbles for the children and it is fun to watch the try and catch them.

Mail Time

We live in a mobilehome court and all our mailboxes are in one place. It is just far enough so I take the car, pick up the mail and often get a few groceries while I am out. Sometimes I take Holly along for the ride if it isn't too hot. She loves to go for a ride. The clouds are rolling in so thought I better get going and get the mail before the rain starts. The lawn is all mowed and trimmed and looks so nice. The neighbors are letting theirs go to seed from the looks of it.

Scary Strong Winds

We had winds go through yesterday about noon. They lasted about 2 hours before they slowed down a little. The trees were almost bending over. I thought if there are any that are dead inside, they will surely blow down in that wind. I wonder just how much tree damage there was. I know it was so strong it blew over a big BBQ grill outside. Fortunately it didn't hurt it.

Shop West Palm Beach for a Hyundai

Living in Florida is just great and being able to visit several dealerships when you are in the market to buy a new or used Hyundai is a big advantage. When you are shopping around, often it saves a great deal of time to check out the Internet. At http://www.wpbhyundai.com is a great place to start.

I know when we go out shopping for a new vehicle, my husband usually chooses Hyundai and it is up to me to choose the color. We find great buys on both new and used cars but a big part of buying at a dealership is the service. I want to know that I can count on them to take care of the oil changes and other maintenance that keeps our Hyundai running top notch.

Being a blogger myself, I thoroughly enjoy reading a blog about Hyundai and finding out all I can about the used cars. So often they are a great bargain and just about the same as a new one.

Fun in the Water

They have so many nice new things for kids to have fun with outdoors. On Memorial Day, the kids were able to try out this new water fountain that squirted water up into the air. It had 3 balls that you put inside it and then turned on the water and up went the balls into the air. The kids were delighted. It was so hot and it was so much fun for them to dash in and out of the cold water. It was fun for the adults to watch them at play. We were all laughing at their antics as they dashed in and out of the water spray.

Severe Storm Warnings

First we had 2 days of almost unbearable heat. Then last night it cooled way down. Today the breeze was down right cold. We wore jackets to go out to eat and they felt good. Now I see on the television that the county west of us is under a severe storm warning. That means it will be here soon too. We can always use some rain but we don't need any storms. I hope it passes us by.

Holly

Our little Boston Terrier, Holly, is feeling her age. She doesn't play much any more. She just wants to lay where it is cool and sleep. She eats good though and has a fat little belly. We sure hate to see her coming to the end of her life. She has been the best little dog we have ever had and we have had a lot of them.

Topamax Lawsuit

Topamax is a drug that was given many people for convulsions due to epilepsy and also it was given for migraines. However, they failed to list other possible side effects of this drug. Therefore, it was given to pregnant women and many of them had babies with terrible birth defects such as cleft lip and cleft palate. It was an expensive ordeal for the families to have this defect repaired so that their child could lead a normal life. However, this should not have happened in the first place and there was a Topamax lawsuit. If you were not included in this lawsuit, you may want to check with O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949 to see if you have a case. They are very experienced attorneys with a well trained staff to assist you.

Fun Outside on a Hot Day

We have been having some really intense hot weather. Playing in water is always fun for children when it is hot outside. Here you see a couple of our great grandchildren having so much fun splashing and playing in the water. This is a unique plaything for small kids to play with when it is hot. Kids can have so much fun outside on hot days.

Summer Fun Outside

This has been perfect weather for all the kids and grandkids to play outside and have a good time. They can run and play until they are so tired they drop right off to sleep at night.

The little ones are so tired they should take a nap in the afternoon, but they won't give up playing. We adults wish we had that much energy. They never seem to run out. They have so much space on the farm to run and play and have a good time.

Topamax Birth Defects Lawyer

Did you take Topamax when you were pregnant? Was your baby born with cleft palate or cleft lip or other genital defects? If so, perhaps you need to check out a Topamax Birth Defects Lawyer. This is a heartbreaking development when you find out your newborn baby is not perfect and has defects that may have been caused by this drug. They have a simple form that you can fill out to find out what steps you can take in such a case as this. It is expensive to have the corrective surgery on your baby but it is very necessary. Babies with cleft palate have a very difficult time eating and even may run the risk of ear infections due to this defect. The FDA has looked into this drug and scientific data shows the increased risk of such happenings. Don't wait another minute, check it out.

Memorial Weekend

We were blessed to have spent yesterday with grandchildren, children, and great grandchildren. It was extremely windy but we survived it. The kids had a great time playing in the new water fountain. We saw the baby chicks that are really growing. The acreage is beautiful and a huge yard for the kids to play in. Everyone was having fun on the big swing set and also in the hammock. Lots of good food was grilled and also they made homemade ice cream. Yum. A great day was had by all.

Hi Ho Silver!

Here is my grandson out in the Black Hills of South Dakota. He and his brother made the trip a few weeks ago. You can see they are having a lot of fun taking pictures. I think this one is particularly good and funny too. I know they can hardly wait until their next trip out there. They just love the Black Hills and seeing Mt. Rushmore too.

New Baby

There is a new baby in our extended family. Here are the new great grandparents with their new great granddaughter. It is their first. They have 3 granddaughters. The baby is so good they say. Sleeps a lot through the night. That really helps Mom as she has started back for her third year of college. Her Mom is helping her out for a couple of weeks so that is a big help. The little ones grow up so fast.

Here you see two little brothers having a good time together. You can tell the older one is kind of looking out for his younger brother. I am sure they are probably watching a good Veggie Tale. They are really a good thing for children to watch. It is so nice to see two little brothers being so close to each other and having a good time.

Nutrish - Super Premium Food for Your Dog

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nutrish for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today I received a   free sample of Nutrish Just 6, a super premium food for adult dogs.  My dog, Holly, is an important part of our family and I do all that I can to find the very best food for her.  I want her at her best and feeling well and healthy.   When I poured the  Rachael Ray Nutrish just 6 dry dog food into her dish she did not hesitate for a second.  She started right in on it as you can see in this photo:

I would certainly encourage you to ask for a free sample of Nutrish Just 6 if  you have been searching for a well balanced natural food for your dog.

It has all the vitamins and minerals they need to maintain their health.  When your pet is healthy, they love to play and interact with you.  There are just 6 ingredients and the main ingredient is lamb meal.  There is no soy, wheat or corn to upset their systems.  Rachael Ray has gone to great lengths to make sure this super premium food for adult dogs has everything for balanced nutrition while keeping it simple - just 6 ingredients.  Rachael Ray has such a heart for pets that the proceeds from Nutrish will go to organizations and pet charities that do good for animals.  Rescuing pets today has become a very large project as there are so many pets that have been abandoned by their owners these days.

Exercising for Health

Gym Exercises are Great!

Guest written by our friend Trent Horton

I really love the gym. I love all the equipment, and yes, I actually know how to use it all. I can be a spotter if you wish, but I generally prefer to lit my own weights. I've come to love weightlifting class because I actually can lift my own weights without worrying that I'll hit drop one on one of my children when they suddenly come into the room.

I had originally started weightlifting at home, but I prefer to work out at the gym on my way home from work. I'll set my home security alarm system (more info) in the morning and then I'll go to work. After work I'll head to the gym for an hour for my weightlifting class. Then I devote my time ! to my children.

I really enjoy weightlifting and wouldn't want to give it up. Thanks to the great group exercising class, I no longer have to give it up. I have come to learn the many benefits of exercise, and I hope to keep exercising for years on end. It's truly a great feeling to feel fit!

Easter Eggs

Aren't these the cutest Easter eggs. You can do so much more with eggs now than you could when our kids were little. Often we just used food coloring. Later on we bought a little kit with a pencil that would leave their name on the egg after it was colored. The kids always had so much fun coloring eggs. I remember yet when we colored eggs with our mother.

Compare Car Insurance Rates

Our insurance came due for the next 6 months and we could not believe how much it is. We decided with the high cost of everything else that it would be a good idea to shop around and see if we could get some good car insurance but at cheaper rates. It does not take long on the Internet to find cheaper car insurance rates. It will really help out our budget to be able to save some money this way. Groceries are going up so fast and the price of gas is going up too fast also so you need to find other ways in which to save money wherever you can. You do not want to feel that you have to cut back on the real necessities of life because of high car insurance rates too. I was happily surprised to be able to fill out a simple form and see how easy it was to get free quotes from good companies.

Easter - Why Do We Celebrate the Risen Lord Jesus?

He was the Greatest man in history, named Jesus, had no servants, yet they called him Master. Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no Army, yet Kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet he conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. He is risen and sitting at the right hand of God interceding for those who have repented and accepted him into their hearts. He fills the void in your heart that you tried to fill with all the world has to offer and you were still discontented. Everything we buy to make us happy fades after awhile and we start looking for something else. With Jesus in your heart, you aren't looking for more to fill that void, you have peace and contentment and a joy unspeakable and full of Glory.

Topamax Lawsuit

It is a shame that some drugs that do you a lot of good can also cause great harm. It would appear that congenital deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate may have been caused by the mother taking Topamax. If you are one of those people who have had a baby born with such deformity or know someone who did, you may wish to tell them and also check in with experienced attorneys about a Topamax lawsuit. The following attorneys -O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-994 are anxious to be of assistance to you. They may be able to obtain compensation for you to help with your medical bills in conjunction with your child. They will give you a free consultation in order to find out if you have a case.

Cooking Supper

Does anyone out there get tired of making supper? After many years, I feel burned out cooking supper. I dug out my recipe box the other day and tried a couple of old recipes I used to make quite often. Now they didn't seem to be quite as good as they once were. I am trying to find things that are easy and we won't have leftovers for a week. Two nights is fine but not a week's worth. We're going out tonight and I am looking forward to it.

Sleeping Child

There is nothing quite so precious as a sleeping child. This little guy has just played himself out. He's down for a good nap and his Mom probably is too. He hasn't been walking very long but he has learned to climb and that can make for exciting moments. He's giving his Mom a time to rest and relax for a little bit and get some things done around the house that are hard when he is awake and running around :0)

Cosmetology School

Have you ever dreamed of working on a cruise ship or an upscale salon or maybe even working with models for a runway? Your dream can come true if you choose the right cosmetology school Regency has been in business for over 50 years and have continued to grow and expand in many states. You can choose the one where you would like to train and I am sure you would be very pleased with their wonderful campuses. You will be able to train on actual people under their supervision,of course. Therefore, experiencing all the various types of cosmetology as if in the real world before you step out into one of their beautiful salons. We have several in our area and they are always busy. That is a good sign that customers are very happy with their choice of salon.

Boston Terriers

Boston Terriers are the most lovable and friendly dogs. I read the other day that if you are getting dog insurance, do not put in for watch dog insurance on a Boston Terrier. They are so friendly, most likely they will go along with the intruder. Our little Holly has been the best dog we have ever had. She hasn't been feeling the best and we sure hate to see her coming to the end of her life. She will no doubt be the last dog we will ever have.

New Neighbors

Our neighbors of many years have moved to a retirement apartment. We will surely miss them. She used to bring over several pieces of the best cake I have ever eaten and I would take them pie. I don't blame them for wanting to get away from the lawn mowing and snow moving. There comes a time in life when you just can't do it anymore. So we will be getting new neighbors in 2 weeks and wonder what they will be like.

Topamax Lawsuit

A great many women have taken Topamax for migraine headaches. It has also been prescribed for epileptic seizures. However, no one would have suspected that it could cause birth defects but it appears that it has done just that. It is shocking to learn the percentage of births that have been born with cleft lips or cleft palates and it appears there is reason enough for a Topamax lawsuit.
Of course, you want to get in touch with experienced attorneys such as O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949 who are experienced in such matters. They will give you a free consultation in order to determine if you have a case. Their well trained staff is anxious to provide you with the help you need.

Youngest Pro Basketball Player

Isn't this the way the pro basketball players got their start? Here is the future. He is practicing to see if he can beat his Dad at the game. It won't be long and he'll be out there on the basketball floor throwing baskets before you know it. No sense in wasting time. Start them young :0)

Sad Day

Yesterday was the 29th anniversary of the loss of our oldest daughter. She was only 28 and had a 4 year old daughter. It is too bad she couldn't have lived to see her grandchildren. They are growing up so fast too now, ages 13, 11 and 5. My brother lost his son on June 2 so that is a sad day for him. Our sister also lost her firstborn son so that is a sad thing to have in common and seems unusual.

Too Tired

Kids will play till they drop and then they can sleep anywhere.
This little guy has only been walking a few months but he can really get around. He loves to climb and keeps his Mom hopping to see what he is into or onto. Right now his Mom can rest a bit herself, knowing he is sound asleep and not looking for something to get into :0)

blu Electronic Cigarettes

As a smoker, I am getting pretty disgusted with all the non-smokers complaining about my cigarette smoke. Smoking isn't illegal but you would think it was. They are making No Smoking areas every where I go but I have found the solution. Now I am able to buy the blu electronic cigarette that can give me the pleasure of smoking whenever I want and does not contribute to second hand smoke. With 4 various cartridges, I can choose the flavor I want. It comes with batteries and a one year warranty and also a 30 day guarantee. I feel I can't go wrong with that. They provide Free Shipping also right to my door. With the atomizer it works even better with the vapor and you feel like you are smoking regular cigarettes. An electronic cigarette would definitely solve my smoking problems.

Let's Clean Our Shoes

When you have been outside on the farm, your shoes get quite full of sand and dirt. Here our little great grandsons are learning how to clean their shoes. They know to take them off when they come in the house. That way they don't track in the dirt on the floors and carpet. It's never too young to teach them how to do these things and these little guys look like they are working hard at it.

Buttery Mashed Potatoes

In these busy days, you sometimes have to cut corners to make a good supper quickly. I just recently found out about IDAHOAN buttery Golden Selects flavored mashed potatoes and believe me they are just wonderful. It only takes about 5 minutes to make them and they are so delicious that you do not put gravy on them. That would spoil the buttery taste. They are made with real golden and russet potatoes from Idaho and we love them. I love being able to have them on the shelf to pull out and fix in a hurry for a great dish of mashed potatoes.

Spring!

It is the first day of Spring at last. This has been a super long miserable winter. Way too much snow and ice and way too much below zero wind chills and weather. So little sunshine. Sure glad to see the snow disappearing at last. Thought that day was never going to come. I hope next winter is a very mild one for a change. I heard today that last year was the coldest winter in Iowa ever!
