There are a number of ways that people like to travel to go camping. Going by RV is the best way to get where you are going with all of your supplies, groceries, etc. You can pull a little trailer too. That is what my sister and her husband did for years. However, my neighbors have always choosen to take tents for their big family and just love camping out in a tent. You can pack your tent right in the trunk of your car, in your RV or in a pull behind trailer. Once you find your favorite sight and get your tent set up, you are all set to get your firepit going. Sitting out at night under the stars, eating over the campfire, singing songs, telling stories and of course, roasting some hot dogs and marshmallows is probably the most fun for the kids. I like roasting marshmallows myself and look forward to that. You can sit around a good fire and the mosquitoes do not bother you. I guess they do not care much for fire or heat like that. I used to work for a well-known RV manufacturing company and they have improved so much over the last 40 years that they are really homes on wheels. Icy Weather

It has not been a nice day outside today. We had terrible strong winds that just beat the rain against the windows. It sounded like hail but think it was sleet as many windows were frozen over. I tried to take a nap and it got so loud several times, it woke me up. I tried to get the mail and the mail boxes were all frozen shut so my husband had to go out and beat on them to get the ice out so we could get our mail. It is good to be in the nice warm house tonight.

Eating Birthday Cake

It does not have to be your birthday to enjoy birthday cake. As you can see here, our little great grandson is devouring a piece of his 3 year old sister's birthday cake. He loves to eat and who wouldn't love a delicious piece of cake? It is so much fun to see little ones really go at it and get it all over themselves. They don't care about neatness, just eating and having lots of fun doing just that.

Getting Ready For Winter

We brought in the Hummingbird feeder and washed it out good. Then we also brought in the rain gauge so it wouldn't freeze and crack and have to get a new one next year. Our outdoor thermometer is off I think so will probably get a new one of those next Spring. I think moisture may have gotten into it. They don't seem to last long. My husband brought in the eves spouts extensions now too and I think everything is ready for winter. Hate to see winter come though with its snow and ice.

One thing that is of value to everyone is time. We all want to know what time it is. That is why every room in our home has a clock. They are all wall clocks because a wall clock is easy to put up and very little trouble. Most are battery operated and the battery seldom needs changing. It is fun to change the clocks in my home from time to time because there always seem to be new ones available. My husband loves a big clock with big numbers in the bedroom as he can't see what time it is without his glasses unless the clock has big numbers on it. For the living room, I love a clock with a pendulum and a chime too. There is just something so homey about such a clock. And you can choose the wood and also the style of that clock. When we finished siding our home, it looked so nice. We had new windows installed, as well, and a new roof put on. We stepped back to look at the finished job on our home and it looked so nice. Spagetti and Meatballs

My sister brought me a bag of frozen meatballs. I made spagetti and put them in the sauce after I cooked them, following the directions. They are very good and so easy. It was easier than making my own. I am going to take the leftovers to daughter tomorrow as too much for us to eat ourselves. I know they will enjoy them and will make for an easy meal for them too since they both work.

Family Fun

Here is one of our little great grandsons with one of his Aunts. You can see he is enjoying himself. They have lots of Aunts to hold them and enjoy them. Autumn Leaves

Like the song says, the Autumn leaves are falling and falling and falling. My husband went out and mulched all the leaves on the lawn and it looked so nice. The very next day we got high winds and the lawn was covered again worse than ever. A couple days ago our next door neighbor went out and mulched their leaves. I told my husband to forget about even thinking about mulching ours again and today the leaves are blowing everywhere again. He's decided he's done with the lawn mower till Spring when the grass grows long enough to mow.

Skunks

The skunks are out. They must be looking for a place to hibernate for the winter. It seems when you go outside you smell skunk and wonder how close it is. Well a couple of doors down my neighbor said another neighbor had a skunk on her front porch twice. She called the police to get rid of it. I know we always thought a skunk was rabid if they came up to the house. You had better watch out. Several people have had their pet dog sprayed by skunks this year and that is a mess to get them cleaned up from that odor.
