Lots of Good Food

We sure had lots of good food today. Why does a person always eat too much just because it is there? I think it is because there are so many things we don't usually see except at this time of the year. Holidays are fattening, haha. I wish I had taken some containers along and brought home some leftovers. Everything was so good. New Years means chips and dips next and lots of football games.

Grandkids are Coming

The grandkids and great grandkids are coming with their folks in a little while. We are all going out to eat at our local Pizza Ranch. It will be so much fun to see the newest baby born December 5. We have a pending BIG snow storm headed right at us. I sure hope it doesn't ruin Christmas. Travel is going to be difficult if it snows for the next 3 days. They say we may get some just plain rain and that is even worse as it freezes to the branches of the trees and highlines and can cause branches and trees to fall and lights to go out. We are hoping it will only be snow. That is bad enough because they are talking 6-12 inches of snow along with high winds.

Make the Best Gravy Ever

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Club House. All opinions are 100% mine.

It is Winter in our State and at this time of the year, we love to have the oven on or the crockpot cooking. A big juicy beef roast is my favorite with lots of carrots and onions. But best of all, we look forward to that big bowl of mashed potatoes with a wonderful gravy to top them. However, that isn't always the case, because sometimes there is not enough meat juice and the gravy needs some help to be really tasty.

Christmas is almost here and it is always a worry as to whether the gravy is going to turn out just right. So why not take the stress out of making the gravy by using Club House Gravy Mix? It is so easy and you are able to watch a gravy tips video and see just how to make great gravy every time.

Your family will love it when you bring this delicious gravy to the table every time, full of flavor for them to enjoy. You will not have all that unnecessary stress of worrying whether the gravy is going to come out right or not. In addition, here is your opportunity for a newsletter sign-up and contest entry to win a Club House Gravy Gift Pack. Be sure to get your entry in now and watch the video so your gravy will be one of the highlights of your Christmas dinner. You must live in Canada to sign up.

Winter Snow Storms

Well, we are in for it again. I heard it is supposed to start snowing tonight and we should get about 3 inches of new snow by tomorrow. I just looked out the window and it is only 3:15 CST and it is snowing quite hard already. Not only that but they tell us a BIG winter snow storm is headed right at us. It could start on Wednesday and run to or through Saturday. Bah Humbug! That could really mess up Christmas plans for everyone.

I Want a Home Business

My husband and I have talked for a long time about starting our own business in our home. We have worked out for others for so many years. There have been times when snow storms made it almost impossible to get to work. Other times, so many people were ill, that our work doubled and made it very difficult for us to enjoy our jobs. We had to put in so many long tiring hours. Sometimes we even had to work weekends. A friend of ours just started a franchise business and he is discussing that with us. I think it would be good if we could get such a business that we could operate out of our home. We plan to search the Internet to see what is available. We could work at our own speed and work our own hours. It would be great to be our own boss and not have to depend on traveling to work every day. Besides that, we could have our weekends free to spend with our family going on picnics, to the beach and family reunions. With gas prices rising all the time, it has really gotten expensive to drive a distance to work also. It would save wear and tear both on our car and ourselves to be able to work at home. I know the kids would be glad to have Mom at home when they get home from school too.

Carlos O'Kellys Mexican Restaurant

Tonight our brother and sister-in-law should be pulling in with their pickup and trailer on their way to Arizona for several months. They live in Wisconsin and although we have had quite a bit of snow, they have had more. And it is colder there too and they are anxious to get to a warmer climate for awhile.

I wish we could do that too but I like being in my own home, own bed, own chair, etc. If it snows and blizzards, we are retired, so we can just watch it out the window and listen to the action on the police scanner.

We are thankful this Christmas that we have a new furnace and we are nice and warm. We will be meeting them and taking them out to our favorite restaurant for Mexican food. They look forward to this as it is their favorite too and there isn't a good Mexican restaurant where they live as yet.

Another Family Birthday

Today, my baby sister, turned 65 years of age. I can hardly believe it. My brother and I were quite a bit older when she was born. I can still see her as a little 2 year old running around the house. We used to love buying her stuffed toys for Christmas. One year we got her but cutest gray elephant and she was so scared of it, she cried. But she quickly got over that and we always remember her calling it an "elphanut". You don't forget those little things.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of LG Chocolate Touch. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today's world is a world of convenience. We want everything at our fingertips if at all possible. We value keeping in touch with our social contacts and with the Internet. Sharing our photos is a very integral part of our lives. That is why the LG Chocolate Touch should really peak your interest because it has it all.

And the unbelievable sound of your favorite music. You can store up to 250 of your favorite songs and they are crystal clear due to Dolby Mobile Technology. Sub Zero Weather

We are having dangerous wind chill weather here. It was -17 this morning and below zero most of the day. It is going to be dangerously cold again tonight. By noon tomorrow they say it may warm up to a few degrees above zero. We had another light snow which covered some freezing rain that made the streets very slippery. You must be careful driving. One gal slid right through an intersection. Luckily, there was no one coming or she could have had a bad accident.

Dungeons and Dragons Soda

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Jones Soda. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you are looking for a unique selections of sodas, then you should investigate Dungeons and Dragons Jones Soda. These are the sodas with rich flavors you won't find elsewhere. They would make great Christmas gifts in packs.

It is easy to order on line with fast delivery. Illithid Brain Drain is very interesting. I feel it may taste like a rich Blackberry soda. Bigby's Crushing Thirst Destroyer could be a Green Apple flavor and I'm guessing that Dwarven Draught may contain a strong rich pure mix of thirst quenching Berry? Then there is Sneak Attack. Could it be Rheindeer RootBeer? Or how about Potion of Healing, is it a Berry Lemonade mix?

Which flavor intrigues you? What do you think they would taste like? You know they will all be delicious and hard to set down once you have started drinking them. When it comes to quenching thirst in a flavorful and delightful way, they are the experts. These would make perfect Christmas gifts or gifts for all occasions for friends and members of your families. I know all my grandchildren would enjoy then immensely. Be sure to check these out for yourselves and see if you can decide which ones you like best. However, you can order various packs of a variety of flavors that are sure to please both you and those you are shopping for. Look into their website now on the Internet and place your order for delivery.

Cold Wave and Wintry Mix

My husband says the weatherman never misses the bad stuff. He is right. They said we would get a wintry mix of some rain which would freeze instantly on everything. The roads are slick. Then we got about 1/2 inch of snow which was lucky as they had said 1-3" first and then changed it to 1". I ran some errands and was careful because the roads are very icy. Thought it would be a good idea to get extra milk and bread just in case. It was above zero when we got up this morning and here it is 3:15 CST and the outdoor thermometer shows zero already and going to get colder before the night is over.

Crockpot Cooking

Crock pot cooking is the easiest kind. I made a roast, potatoes, carrots and onion yesterday and it was so good. However, I think my 30 year old crock pot is on its last legs. I do a lot of blogging and also surveys and have earned enough points at one survey site to order a brand new crock pot free. It will have a removable insides which my old one doesn't have. It is just one piece. They ship fast so I should have it by the first of next week. I am excited about that.

New Great Grandchildren

Our daughter is a twin. She has twins, a boy and a girl who are grown and married now. Two years ago, her twins made her a double grandmother within the short space of 13 days. Now they have done it again. She became a double grandmother for the second time and this time 12 days apart. How exciting to have 4 grandchildren in 2 years, 3 boys and one girl. Children are a blessing from God.

Make Your Camera Wireless

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Eye-Fi. All opinions are 100% mine.

It is so much fun to take photos at all the birthdays and family gatherings. I also take so many photos with my camera on vacation. But then when it comes time to put them on my favorite website like Facebook, I can't find my USB cable. So what happens? The photos start building up and family and friends start asking me what happened on my vacation and where are the photos. Uncle Jim wants to see his birthday pictures and my face is red because I can't get them onto my computer to send to him. My brother is always asking me to upload some photos for him but where is that USB cable anyway? I have looked high and low for it.

Now an Eye-Fi card can change my life and yours if you have the same problems because it entirely wireless. Just watch this video and see what I mean. It is amazing.

Not only does it save time for you but it automatically organizes your photos by date and backs up your memories for you. It is so simple, with a wireless router and an SDHC capable camera you are in business. No more waiting to get your photos on your computer. No more people bugging you to see your photos. It is so simple.

Christmas Decorations

Our neighbors really decorated more than usual this year. They have two big white snowman and snow woman that blow up when they plug them in. They put all kinds of pretty lights around their deck. This year they added a bunch of blue lights too. They also have candy canes that are lit up and we can see them all through our living room window. It is really neat.

Snow Blower

It is that time again. My husband got out the snow blower. He had been wanting to get it started and it snowed overnight so this was his chance. He blew out the snow out of the drive, even though the landlord always does it for us. I think he just enjoyed being outside as it was really rather mild weather. Soon the snow stopped and the sun came out and melted it all off all the driveways. But now it is snowing and blowing too. Looks like it might just be a heavy flurry though.

Holly's Eye

Holly, our little Boston Terrier, rubbed her eye so hard about a month ago that she made it swell up. Looking at her, it gave the appearance of being blind in that eye. However, the Veterinarian said it was just swelling and gave her some antibiotics and another medicine to clear it up. But the worst part for her was that she had to wear one of those collars so she couldn't rub it more. She had a hard time eating with it on so we were continually taking it off and on for her. She could run down the steps to the garage but couldn't get back up them so off it would come again so she could go potty. We are really glad it is all healed up but she likes to wash her face and it is looking a little red near that eye again. I hope she doesn't make it swell again.

Breakfast for Supper

Do you ever have a breakfast meal for supper? We do. We had eggs, toast and bacon Saturday night for supper and it was very good. Later on we had bowls of buttered popcorn. Tonight we had pancakes and sausage and that was also very good. I made a chocolate graham cracker pie and we had some for lunch and will probably have more again soon tonight.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It is raining again. I guess we can just be thankful it isn't snow. I heard once that 10 or 12 inches of snow is equal to one inch of rain. So from the sounds of the drops on the roof, we are being spared many inches of snow. I think there is a little freezing mix north of us and that is dangerous. Icy roads are worse than snowy ones, I think.

The easiest way to add to your education or finish your education is to do it through online college courses.

Stock Market Closes Down 17 Points

There doesn't seem to be many rosy days for the stock market. People's 401k's have evaporated. Stocks have been just terrible. They keep talking a brighter economic forecast, however, today thousands more people applied for unemployment. Health care companies seem to be the only ones gaining or holding their own. The Fed raised its expectations for economic growth during the second half of this year, but said unemployment will remain high. Millions are on unemployment, without jobs and no prospects of getting a job.

Deal fo GM to sell Saab Collapses

I had heard that GM wanted to sell Saab to a specialty carmaker. But that company pulled out of the deal. This is the third time this year that one of their deals to get rid of one of its brands has fallen apart. It is trying to recover from a stay in bankruptcy protection. It may decide just to let the brand die. The jobs of 4500 Saab employees, most of them in Sweden, are in jeopardy. It seems every day we hear of another company letting go of huge numbers of employees.

Cosmotology Schools

A girl at church was telling me how much she loves to fix hair. She is planning to go to beauty school to perfect her talent. In looking through the Internet for cosmotology schools she found that it was quite easy. All she had to do was fill in the zip code where she lives or the State she wished to attend school. In moments, she found just what she was looking for. Not only that but she found a great deal of information on the latest trends. Did you know that cruise ships are a great way to find a job you would love? Imagine being on a beautiful cruise ship and having your job there? Wouldn't that be outstanding?

Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Every year in our little town, a different church is chose to hold the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. I think that is great. You can go there and eat. Or if you would rather eat at home and watch a game, you can pick up your dinner. In addition, they will deliver to your home. That is really nice. Lots of ladies get together and prepare the turkey and all the fixings and you give a free will offering for your dinner. We are going to have ours delivered this years. We did that 2 years ago and it was just delicious.

Thanksgiving Day Traveling

I was just listening to the news. They say a lot less people are going to fly home this year for Thanksgiving. However, lots more are going to drive. So they are alerting people to be sure and be alert with many more cars on the road. Gas prices are also supposed to be dropping. So far one of our gas stations dropped their price one cent. That's no big deal, is it?

Oakley Sunglasses

Everyone needs a good pair of sunglasses. But not only that, you want a style that is up-to-date and you can be proud of. You want a pair that fits you well and makes you look good. That is why Oakley Sunglasses are a best buy. They give you a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee. Not many will do that. But they also give you a one year guarantee against breakage. When you get on the Internet and order from them, you can be assured that your glasses are in stock right now and will be shipped the same day if you order them in a timely manner. You also can be assured of the lowest prices, but check them out for yourself.

Today is our oldest son's birthday. I sent him a funny ecard and also one by snail mail. He should get that today. It is hard to believe our childen are reaching such ages. Tex Mex Night Out

It was Tex Mex night out for us tonight. Everything we had was delicious. We go to our favorite place and know the waitress quite well. She is a sweet gal with a little 4 year old girl. She always knows what we want to drink and has it on the table almost before we sit down. One of the owners is usually there too and she visits with us as well. We saw lots of trucks on the road hauling corn to the elevators. It is kind of a dangerous time to be on the road so you must be alert.

Because your feet bear the weight of your entire body, they are a very important part of your body. When your feet hurt, you hurt all over. I know I have suffered for many years with arthritis in both feet. When it got to the point where I could hardly walk, I knew I had to do something about it. In addition to the arthritis, it seemed like I was having problems with my toenails as well. I searched the internet for information and found that toe nail fungus treatment is a very important part of foot care. If you are suffering from any kind of foot pain, be sure to look up the best doctor you can find in podiatry.

Real Property Management Midwest

If you have property in Ohio, but you live elsewhere, what you need is Real Property Management. You need a dependable, experienced company that you can count on to manage your property. They are able to handle all the facets of managing for you. If you are looking for reliable tenants, I know it is hard to do it from a distance. Sometimes, it is necessary to evict tenants for various reasons and they can do this for you too. One of the great things is that they will inspect your property at least 3 times a year to be sure everything is alright. Having a reliable company take care of your property investments is a great stress reliever. Check into the Internet and see how such a company can help you.

I am being paid for my opinion on this post.

Name Translation

Big business does business all around the world these days. If you want to contact other companies, you need to be able to pass out your business card in their language. Perhaps you have tried this before with bad success. Now is the time to get on the Internet and check out companies that can perform name translation correctly. In checking this experienced company, you will find they are not only experts but they guarantee their work 100 percent and you don't pay until you are completely satisfied. It is easy to submit your job and you will get it back very quickly. It is a very simple way to get your business out in front of many companies who don't speak your language.

Birthdays are Fun

Our little great granddaughter turned 2 on November 1. She had a neat Elmo cake. She got all kinds of presents. It looked like an early Christmas. It is so much fun to see the little ones enjoying their birthdays. Her little first cousin was able to join in the fun too. Being only a few days apart in age, they really have a good time together.

Pizza Night

Went out for Pizza tonight. I really enjoy having various kinds of pizza as my husband does not like it. He goes for the broasted chicken every time. They have a new apple/walnut/lettuce salad now with raisins in it that is just delicious. I could eat a whole plate of that and skip the rest. But it is mashed potatoes, gravy and chicken for my husband and he is happy. I had "Sweet Swine" tonight and there was a time that I thought pineapple sounded funny for a pizza but it is delicious. I also like the Cheeseburger pizza that has dill pickles on it. Yum Yum

Headstart Bus

The little Headstart bus comes by here every morning. They pick up the little girl next door. I used to ride on the bus and buckle the kids into their seat belts. I did that for about 5 years after I retired. Now those same kids are in High School. It is really something to see some of them after 9 or 10 years and see how they have grown and changed.

Queen Torrent

Everyone is looking for movies, music and games to download. However, it is not always easy to find what you are looking for. You need a good search engine that can't only find music torrents but can find the DVD's and games as well. I checked out Looney Tunes and was so surprised to find so much listed by category and size. It is simple and easy to find what you are looking for. And because it is updated regularly, you can find the latest of whatever you want and download them for free and you don't have to worry you might get empty files either.

Off to Arizona

Well, our friends are off to their home in Arizona. This year they put their house up for sale but the way things are, it hasn't sold yet. They have asked me to keep an eye on it and the next door neighbor too. Make sure the furnace doesn't quit and pick up the junk mail. They have a permanent house in Phoenix now so took their furniture too. It will seem funny to be checking an empty house. The neighbor will keep the snow cleared and they have a neat setup where a light goes on if the temperature in the house drops below 40 degrees. Then they call us and we check it out and call the plumber if needed. It is a simple way to make some extra cash next Spring by housesitting this winter.

I didn't know there could be so many football games on a weekend. All day Saturday and Sunday, game after game. We found a site on the Internet that gives you all the NFL games for the weekend and you guess who is going to win. My husband has been having fun with that but it is getting harder to guess each week. It is FREE to play but they are giving cash to the people who can pick all the winners. Not much luck here though. :0)

There is quite a bit to setting up your own domain. If you are a novice like me, you don't know the first thing about it or where to start. That's where website hosting comes in. In checking through their website, I found that they not only furnish you with the top 10 web hosting providers, but they also show you the features and pricing. These are important items to everyone starting their own domain or adding a new domain. It is also very helpful to get the reviews of the web hosts. Find out what others think of them. I know when I set up my own website, I didn't know where to start and I had to ask others what they thought and get their advice. Friends and family are not always as knowledgeable about everything you need. I found that out the hard way. It would have been much better if I could have looked into the Internet and gotten the help I needed. There are even free domain names. I didn't know that and I am paying for it. It would have been very helpful if I could have looked up free domain names and saved myself some money. It is also interesting to read up on web hosting news and a great deal more.

Dentists are good when you need them. But it seems so many people are afraid to go to a dentist. I used to be afraid but I have had such wonderful pain free dentistry by great dentists that it doesn't bother me any more. My husband had to have two fillings this week and he said they used something new to numb the place where the fillings would go. It only took a couple minutes and he didn't feel a thing. He said it was great. I hate the sound of the drill though. I don't think that will ever change.

Gold Coins

Everyone seems to be watching Wall Street and the stock market these days. It has taken some terrible hits and many have lost a lifetime of investments. That is why people from ancient times knew that gold coins would always be a good investment. Present civilization could take some lessons from the past Greeks and Romans when it comes to investing. They knew the value of gold and that it would not lose its value. Gold generally increases, rather than decreasing in value, making it a great investment. I know it seems like every day I see television ads advising us to buy gold for a safe investment. This company has been in business over 30 years and they are experts in their field.

We had a wedding in the family. Some of our grandchildren have been living out-of-state but they are now back here. They were able to attend the wedding supper along with our little great grandson. He had so much fun playing with his little cousin. He has the biggest eyes like his Mom and gets so excited over everything. He is so much fun to watch.

59th Anniversary

Yesterday was our 59th anniversary. We ran away and got married in another state at that time. It was a secret for 3 months as I was still in high school and we thought married students had to pay tuition. We found out later that was untrue so we made an announcement in the local paper and surprised everyone. My sister-in-law got married during the same senior year before she graduated too. And no one was pregnant either.

Sunday Football

It was a great day of Sunday football for my husband as our oldest son and his 3 boys spent the afternoon with him watching football. Although they are fans of different teams, they still had a good time. They had Subway sandwiches and that was really good for them as we women were gone to a baby shower, eating all kinds of goodies too.

Family Fun

We had a good time this weekend. We went out to eat at a fairly new restaurant. It was quite unique in its decor. We went with part of our family. Our son-in-law was having fun with his grandson as you can see. We had a great meal and lots of conversation. A good time was had by all.

Sunday, September 27, 2009

All day Saturday is college football at our house. Then we watch Cops and Americas Most Wanted. On Sunday, after church, it is pro football all day and night. I like to watch taped programs of CSI, Law and Order and Bones. I have my favorites to fill in the time while my husband watches all his ball games. He watches as many as 3 at a time. I don't know how he keeps them all straight.

Piano Chords

A great many of us took piano lessons in childhood. I know my Grandmother paid for my lessons for 2 years and I have always enjoyed playing the piano. However, the hard part can be the piano chords.

I know I have been at many a family gathering and of course, the first thing they would say is that I could play the piano. They always wanted me to play something for them. However, without my music, I was unable to remember the piano chords so I was always embarrassed.

If I had only known about this website that gives you wonderful tips on playing the piano, I could have learned to play by improvising without music. It is so easy to find out how to play piano chords and much more just by filling in your email address and get your free piano playing tips from here. Be sure to watch the videos if you don't believe it is possible. I feel it is very exciting at the prospect of playing piano without your music with you everywhere you go.

Tennis Champ

Have any of you been watching the women's tennis games on TV? Have you seen the little teenage girl who beat some of the very best women's champs? She was so excited and I don't blame her. It takes a lot to win those games and she's right up there with Venus and Serena Williams now. It was fun to see someone so young winning.

Husbands sure can get a great help when you have surgery. Mine had 2 surgeries himself in the last 3 months. Now that I have had surgery, he has washed all the clothes, does all the dishes and makes meals. He fetches me ice water and anything I need. He made me a good hot cup of tea this morning. He is worth his weight in gold.

Destination Weddings

I know there is much planning that goes into a wedding. But one of the most important part is destination weddings. You want your wedding to be the most special of all and what could be better than being married in one of the wedding chapels at Karisma Hotels. The beautiful white sand beaches are just calling to you on the beautiful Riviera Maya.

They have thought of everything from the registration of the gifts you would like to the reception and wedding itself, of course. In addition to all the wedding details, they also have prepared for those who would like to go scuba diving for instance. Or perhaps you would enjoy just soaking in a milk bath and then an aromatic massage. Sounds wonderful doesn't it?

No Pain, No Gain

That is what they say. No pain, no gain when it comes to exercising sore joints. Just having a knee revision has given me a huge swollen knee and ankle and foot too. They tell me it can take weeks before the foot and ankle swelling go down but it can take as long as a year to get rid of the knee swelling.

I don't know how they expect you to bend your knee to a normal position when it is the size of a large cantelope. It is hard enough to get up and walk after sitting for just a short while. Friday they will work me over again. I've got weeks of this to look forward to.

Our son-in-law and daughter are coming to visit tonight. We are looking forward to seeing them. They are also bringing their daughter and granddaughter so we will have a great visit. Holly, our little Boston Terrier, will be so excited to see everyone. Kaelyn is very active and so is Holly so it will be fun to see how they play together.

Physical Therapy

I had my second session of physical therapy today. The gal really gave my operated knee a real work out. She really massaged the tight thigh muscles until they were a lot more relaxed and I could do more exercises more easily. It isn't quite as hard to get around with the walker now. I also go up and down steps with a crutch. I always thought that looked scary but it isn't.

Short Hospital Stay

Well, for all the forewarnings they gave me about this knee surgery, I sure did have a short stay in the hospital. I know that is due to all the prayers for me before, during and after the surgery. The parts in my knee had all worked very loose and it was easy for the doctors to take them out and then put in the new ones. Now I am doing a lot of exercises and physical therapy to get going again. I had my first session this morning and it really loosened up my knee a lot already. I will be going at least twice a week for awhile until I can bend it 90 degrees or more.

Shelby the Dog

The boy next door has a birthday last week. He turned 13 years old. For his birthday, they got him the cutest little black puppy and he named her Shelby. It is so much fun to watch out the window. Jake runs and the little puppy bounces along right behind him no matter where he goes. He has her pretty well trained to follow him and sit beside him. He has 3 sisters too who love to play with the puppy so it was almost a gift to all of them but Jake is responsible for her care and potty training.

Chocolate Cake

I got chocolate cake for my birthday. Yum Yum. I had a great birthday, lots of cards, phone calls and a great lunch out at a local restaurant after church. We also got some delicious sweet watermelon, the first for this summer. It is really good. Birthdays can be so much fun. The older you get, the better birthdays get. They really do.

Sweet Corn Season

It is sweet corn season and we have been having sweet corn for suppers. It is so very good this time of the year. The ears seem to be smaller this year and we don't know whether it is because there was too much rain at the wrong time or too little rain at the wrong time. It seems they are picking it a little too early too because we have found several ears that just weren't quite ready and they are just not good eating. But we love sweet corn and will keep looking for more and better sweet corn before the season runs out.

Doctor visit

I had my doctor appointment today with the orthopedic surgeon. I had a bone scan about 2 weeks ago. The bone scan was to show whether of not my knee replacement is coming loose. Well, it has come loose and that means replacement of the replacement knee. It is quite a bit more major surgery than the first one was, although stay time in the hospital is about the same, physical therapy, etc. I was really hoping it would show that everything was holding tight in place, but it didn't. So I will be having the surgery next week.

The Best of Time

Time is a very valuable commodity to every one of us. There is hardly a person on earth, if they can afford it, that does not wear a watch of some kind. But when it comes down to it, and in many conversations, a Rolex watch is the watch to own and you can find a wonderful selection of them at

A Rolex stands out as not only a useful piece of jewelry, but a sign of elegance and beauty. Now you can save as much as $1000 on the watch of your dreams. Which is your favorite, gold or silver. Do you want Roman Numerals or numbers on your watch? How about diamonds or a beautiful deep red or blue watch. You have so many choices here that you may have a hard time deciding and may want to purchase several at these savings offered today.

I guess I have often thought of a Rolex as a man's watch but they have a delightful inventory of the most gorgeous ladies watches, as well. It is hard for me to decide between silver or gold. They are all so beautiful and I would like lots of diamonds sparkling on the watch of my choice as well. Check into their website and see if you do not agree with me that they have a great inventory of beautiful watches. You can give them a call on their toll-free number too.

As an independent dealer, they are able to sell you their watches at discounted prices. Everyone loves to save money while buying the watch of their dreams. How can you resist?

Birthdays are fun for everyone except those who do not want to be reminded that they are getting older. However, when you consider the alternative, you should be very happy to celebrate your birthday. Anyway, I know the ones who enjoy their birthdays most are the kids. The little girl next door just got her first full size bike for her birthday and she is riding around shouting about how happy she is. There are 6 kids between the 2 houses next to us and there seems to be a birthday party going on almost continuously from July 1 to August 1. They set up the BBQ and chairs and grill out and have cake and ice cream. We are invited to all the parties too. That is really nice of them. The kids have such a ball celebrating their birthdays. It is so much fun to watch.

So many times when people think of investing their wealth, they think first of Gold. However, Gold is not the only investment you can make to preserve your wealth. In fact, now is the time to invest in silver. Supplies of silver all over the world are shrinking because it has so many uses. It is a great conductor of electricity and they have also found uses for it in the health field. There was only so much silver in the world and it has been mined. Now with it being used up for so many things that were not happening years ago, those stockpiles are shrinking. There is no way to replace it either so you can guess the price is going to rise. Check into this website and see if you don't agree this is a good, safe investment.

Time to Mow the Lawn

We had a great 3 day weekend where we didn't do anything at home. We went all kinds of places and had a great time. But now it was time to get down to business at home and mow the lawn. It really had grown over the last several days, thanks to rain and lots of sunshine and warmth. My husband got the mower out and did a good job on the lawn and then he took the trimmer and did all the trimming. We have a little windmill that was getting pretty tall grass underneath but, it looks great now.

Is Summer Almost Over?

We have had the strangest weather all year so far. June was fairly hot whereas it is cool most of the time. July has been both hot and cool but mostly cool and rainy, whereas it is usually very hot and dry. We are wondering what August is going to bring as we really haven't had a normal summer as yet.

Tonight it is to get down to 49 degrees and that is not growing weather for the corn and beans. They need lots of sunshine and heat. If you stand in the sun, you get hot and sunburned but if you are in a breeze and in the shade, you nearly need a jacket and often do need a jacket. We have taken jackets at night whenever we go out. I wonder if we will have a cold, wet fall too. Time will tell.

My Favorite Perfume

I love lots of different kinds of perfume. You do not feel fully dressed until you have your perfume on. Men smell so good too when they wear the right cologne. I found this website where you can get your favorite online perfume and save a whole lot of money. Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds is a huge favorite but so expensive but here I can get it for so much less. They have so many designer perfumes for you to choose from for both men and women. Why pay those expensive prices when you can get it here and get several at the same time because they cost you so much less.

BBQ Ribs

We love BBQ ribs and I love making them at home with or without BBQ sauce. We have a big black Lab dog next door that really enjoys the bones when we are done with them. He anxiously waits as I cross the yard with a plate full of those rib bones for him. I like to take him leftovers because he enjoys them so much. Ribs and baked potatoes are one of the easiest things to make for supper and easy cleanup too. Makes you hungry doesn't it?

Pizza Ranch

Tonight is Pizza Ranch night. They always have a good fresh salad bar with all the toppings for your salad and extra salads too such as coleslaw, macaroni salad, potato salad, and jello. Cheese bread sticks with dip are a favorite of almost everyone and I love the chicken fingers with Ranch dressing to dip them in. There is always many kinds of pizza and if you don't see the one you like, order it and they will make one. Broasted chicken is high on our favorite list too along with mashed potatoes and the best chicken gravy and a vegetable. Wash it all down with your favorite beverage and then top it off with a peach or apple dessert pizza. Yum Yum.

When your health is a little fragile it is a great idea to get some ensure to give your system a boost. I know after surgery, you just can't eat everything you want and many things may be lacking in your diet. This company has been in business since l996 and has served over a million customers. You can this product from them at a real savings and have it delivered right to your door. Not only that but they have a huge inventory of other products for home medical use. Also they have expanded to include supplies for new mothers and babies and exercise equipment. Check them out for your needs.

Chocolate Brownies

Don't you just love good chocolate brownies? Our next door neighbor just bought me a plate with some very large chocolate brownies on it with fudge frosting. I have been hungry for cake and here she brought us some. There is a big Winnabago motorhome rally in the next town and she made all kinds of wonderful homemade baked goods and they had a huge bake sale there. She did fabulous in sales and I knew she would because the people traveling all over the United States, as they do, really appreciate home baking.

We have a beautiful dark red Pontiac Bonneville. We just love it and now they are going to stop making them. I certainly don't agree with the government take over of General Motors and I think the "green" cars they plan to turn out are ugly. Our car has a beautiful body and is one of the finest on the market, yet it is now basically obsolete. We plan to drive it though for a very long time as it is well made and very dependable. It is really sad to see the end of the Pontiac era. My grandfather had a Pontiac dealership all my growing up years.

Car Shows

This is the time of the year when the car shows come out. They have them in nearly every town for miles. Every celebration has a car show. It is so much fun to go see the cars that you used to drive 40 years ago or those that your folks drove many years ago. The owners keep them so spiffy and shiny and spotless and they are a delight to wander through and try to figure out what kind they are and what year they were built. Cars have really made major changes over the years. We wish we had one of those old cars we used to have. We didn't realize they would become so valuable.

The reason they call them grandchildren is because they are so grand. You can just love them up, play with them, have a good time and then send them home with their parents. You can spoil them rotten and then let the folks unspoil them the next week :0). We have 14 grandchildren and now we are expecting 2 more great grandchildren. Isn't that grand? We think so.

Family Vacation

It is summer time and vacation time for most folks. We look forward to getting away somewhere and enjoying a good time. There is just nothing like taking a wonderful family vacation and I know just the place to go. The Riviera Maya is just beautiful with its white sand beaches and luxurious Karisma Hotels. They have five of them, all just a bit different and suited to the likes of everyone. You will find one that will relieve all your stress, or perhaps you need a honeymoon destination. Check them out because they have it all. Pamper yourself, indulge in gourmet food and all the wonderful amenities you desire.

HD Television

A year or more ago, we got our first HD television set. We just love it. The picture is unbelievably clear and you can almost count the hairs on people's heads. The color is beautiful and when you think they can't improve anymore on television, they surprise you and do improve it. We would hate to go back to analog television again after having high definition television.

Lazy Boy Chairs

We had some family over the other day and they were asking about our easy chairs. We have all Lazy Boy chairs as we have found them to be the most dependable and comfortable. We have tried several other brands over the years and were disappointed in them. We also get great warranties with them and the business stands behind all of their Lazy Boy chairs. I would never buy another brand again.

Sweet Corn

It is sweet corn season at last. There is just nothing like a big platter of fresh sweet corn. The farmers pick it fresh out of the field and then park their pickups all over town or take a bunch to the local grocery store. I just stopped at Kum&Go and there was a pickup load waiting there so I didn't even have to get out of the car. So you know what we will have for supper tonight, dripping with butter, salt and pepper.
There is just nothing like a fresh grilled hamburger to go along with it too. I can hardly wait. We have to take advantage of the season as it is short but one of the best parts of summer.

Piano Chords

As a piano player who has had lessons, but have always had trouble counting the rhythm, I think that this website is the right place for all who play piano to check out. It doesn't matter whether you are somewhat experienced in playing the piano or not, I am sure you will find you will learn a great deal here.

It has always been my desire to be able to sit down and play a new sheet of music. However, if I haven't heard it before, I was never able to do it. Also, I have trouble reading the notes and figuring out the sharps and flats.

By signing in with them, they will help you with so many facets of playing the piano. It will amaze you, as it did me. It is fun to just sit down and play along with people but I couldn't do it. I feel with this website, I can learn to play along without all the difficulty of trying to read the music and play at the same time, stumbling over many parts of it. That is embarrassing. Just fill in your email and sign up for free piano lessons too.

Bone Scans

Have you ever had a bone scan? Well, I haven't either but I am going to have one tomorrow. It is to check out my knee replacement and see if any of the parts have loosened for one reason or another. My knee has acted rather funny at times and is 14 years old now and sometimes gives me pain. However, they are supposed to last a lifetime. But if they do work loose, they have to replace them and it is quite a surgery so I hope it has not worked loose in any way. It takes about 3 hours in all to get it done and part of the time, you can go shopping while the dye circulates through your body. I think it will also be interesting.

Whole Pea Soup

It is very difficult to get whole dried peas in this area. I once again had a grocery manager try to get me a case of 24 bags of them. It took awhile but he was able to get them shipped to him. We are going to go pick them up soon. It kind of looks like rain right now but think this is going to be another sunny hot day before the day is over.

We all love the homemade pea soup so really happy to be able to get more of them again.
The store is only about 10 miles away so not difficult to go get them. We really appreciate the manager helping us find the peas.

Family Picnic

We had a great family picnic out on our nephew's acreage on July 5th. That gave everyone a chance to go to fireworks and have their own plans for the 4th of July. Everyone brought food and drinks and there was so much to eat and no duplicate dishes. So you could go back for seconds, if you wanted to, and get an entirely different plate. Lots of bars and homemade cookies too.

We got to visit with nephews and nieces from Indiana and Michigan and a good time was had by all. We sat out in lawn chairs under the shady trees and a nice breeze was blowing. The men all got together later in the afternoon and played their own game of football. There were at least a dozen so had good teams and several of the younger ones play football in school so it was fun. Many pictures were taken and cameras were snapping all over the place. We look forward to doing this again next July 5, 2010.

Rebels Administer Grisly Punishment

Islamist rebels punished four convicted thieves by cutting off a hand and a foot each while hundred of people looked on. It was a bloody spectacle. This was the latest sign that insurgents wield the real power in the lawless African nation. Here the embattled, Western-backed government is struggling to survive. These amputations were carried out in Mogadishu, Somalia. It was a horrible sight and a terrible thing to do to another human being.

Weather Report

It is perfect weather here today. We have beautiful blue skies with little white clouds floating by. The wind is blowing from the northwest which makes it cooler and no humidity. We have all the windows open for the first time in weeks and airing out the house. Getting the humidity out of the house too.

Fashion Jewelry Designers

Don't you just hate it when you go somewhere and all the women are wearing the same jewelry you just bought? I know I do not like to look like a copycat of everyone else. So I got on the internet and I found fashion jewelry designers that have been designing beautiful jewelry since l971. They have the most gorgeous bracelets and you can get necklace and earrings to match. They do not sell their jewelry in retail stores so you know you will have a unique piece or pieces of jewelry when you order from them. Not only that but they check it twice before sending it to you to be sure it is perfect. I feel secure in knowing that.

More Great Grandchildren on the Way

Little Emry is going to have a new little brother or sister around Dec. 3 and his cousin Kaelyn is also going to have a new little brother or sister around Nov. 30. This is the second time the father of Emry and the mother of Kaelyn, who are twins, are going to make their folks double grandparents for the second time. This is really something isn't it? Kaelyn looks pretty happy in this picture doesn't she?

Broken Foot

Our little great grandson broke his foot at the swimming pool. It sounded like kind of a freak happening but feel sorry for the little guy. He is always so smiley and I guess it wasn't long and he was running around on the foot. That's kids for you. It hurt awful at first but he overcame it and kids heal fast too.

Happy 30th Anniversary

One of our youngest daughters and her husband are celebrating their 30th anniversary today. Congratulations to them. They have a wonderful family of three children and two grandchildren and two grandchildren on the way this winter. We are so proud of all our children as they all have passed the 25th anniversary mark and are on their way to their 50th now. God has blessed them all and us too.

My beauty operator called yesterday and asked if I could come today for my haircut. I took the appointment in a New York minute. I have short curly hair and it grows out so fast. I have so many things to do tomorrow that this worked out really good. She was even surprised at how much my hair had grown.

My husband is having his hair cut there too now as his barber is taking radiation treatments for cancer. I see lots more men in the beauty shop getting haircuts than ever before. I know they really miss their regular barber as he was a laugh a minutes, always telling jokes.

Mexican Supper

Some very good friends from church are waiting for my husband to get his appetite back so that they can bring us a Mexican supper. We have a new restaurant in town and they just love it. It won't be long now, I think, and they will be able to do just that and bring the Mexican food. We love Mexican. It is better than steaks to us. So many are crazy for Chinese but give us Mexican anytime.

Fisherman Hooks Rusted Test Missile

In Florida, a commercial fisherman unveiled a curious catch when he returned from an expedition through the Gulf of Mexico this week. It was a corroded missile fired from an F-15 fighter jet. Now wouldn't that be something to pull in?

He hooked the missile about 50 miles off the Panhandle town of Panama City and kept it on his boat for 10 days. He had hoped to keep it as a souvenir, but took precautions because he didn't know if it was live. He kept it cool, he said by packing it in ice.

Later he found out it was a telemetry missile that carried no explosives which was a good thing. However, the MacDill Air Force Base Bomb Squad inspected and dismantled the missile after the fisherman returned to port on Monday.

Islamabad, Pakistan

About 400 Pakistani tribal residents who were furious over a deadly suicide bombing at a mosque, laid siege to several Taliban strongholds in their troubled northwestern region. They killed 11 militants according to officials. The Taliban attack on the mosque left 33 worshippers dead and wounded dozens during Friday prayers. This angered residents of the Haya Gai area of Upper Dir district who have had tensions with local militants for months.

Air France Crash - 15 more Bodies Found

This was a terrible crash in which 228 people lost their lives in the Atlantic ocean. I am sure many were trapped in the plane and probably more bodies will come floating to the top. I heard today that a French submarine is going to go down and see if they can find the black boxes. It is very deep.

Search boats recovered 15 more bodies on Sunday from the plane that crashed May 31. Four of the bodies were men and four were women. They didn't have the information on the other bodies recovered as yet by French authorities. There are a lot of heartbroken families due to this huge loss of life in the ocean near Brazil. Two Americans were on board, the last I heard.

Conservatives are Ahead in EU Races

Conservatives raced toward victory in some of Europe's largest economies on Sunday. The initial results and exit polls showed voters were punishing left-leaning parties in European parliament elections in Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, Britain, Spain, and the Netherlands and elsewhere. However, Greece was a notable exception. The governing conservatives there were headed for defeat in the wake of corruption scandals and economic woes. This was the latest news to be reported out of Belgium.

Laser Surgery for Men

Men, especially as they age, often have problems urinating. Sometimes it is very hard to get started or the stream is so slow, they seem to be in the bathroom for hours. It is as bad as having to go too often, perhaps worse.

My husband had this laser surgery Thursday and they found a birth defect in his bladder. I wonder how many men are having the same problems he was having and have this defect also? The doctor said he sees a great many of them. It is too bad my husband couldn't have had it fixed 20 years ago. Just in our little town of about 3000, our doctor says she sees about 100 men a year who have this surgery. It is called TURP for short. What a blessing.

Time is a precious commodity. It seems to just fly by the older you get. We have been so busy with doctor appointments since my husband had colon cancer surgery. I think we have 3-4 days tied up next week with various appointments. He is going to have another pre-op physical tomorrow. This is in preparation for another smaller surgery on Thursday. It will only take one day and then we should be done with hospitals for awhile but I suppose more doctor visits. They are good to have when you need them.

Earthquake in Los Angeles

A moderate earthquake rattled downtown Los Angeles yesterday. It registered 4.1 and was centered about 10 miles from downtown, near the Los Angeles International Airport.
We used to live just a few short miles from the Airport with the jets flying so low over our home that when you were outside, you felt like you could almost reach up and touch them. Needless to say, while watching television, you could not hear a thing as they passed over. We felt some of those minor quakes while we were living there, but I am glad we moved to the Midwest before the bigger ones have struck there since l970. I guess this one was just an aftershock because two days before, they had a 4.7 earthquake which was also centered near the Airport. It is a very strange feeling to have the ground shake under you and you can hear the ground make a cracking noise also.

Hanging Baskets of Flowers

I went to the Greenhouse this morning to get a hanging basket. They were on sale and had not been picked over. I got a beautiful yellow begonia and I think it is just gorgeous. Also had them pot a pink hanging impatient in a smaller pot that hangs in a wrought iron heart out front. Our yellow peony tulips are blooming now and a few red ones. Also I saw my first hummingbird this morning and 4 Goldfinch. It is so good to see them back again. I think an oriole may be drinking out of the hummingbird feeder too as the syrup is going down pretty fast. This is a beautiful time of the year.

New War Memorial

A new War Memorial was dedicated Sunday in the town where my husband grew up. We went to the dedication and the Memorial is one of the finest I have seen yet. His two brothers were near the front lines in Italy in WWII and came back to tell about it. However, as most people have found, most of the men didn't want to talk about their experiences because they saw many horrible things. My husband was in the Korean War but he was blessed spend his time in Germany. I got several pictures of the Memorial to show him when he gets home from the hospital.

Drunk Driver Kills Kids

A drunken driver, using his cell phone, lost control of his vehicle and plunged it into a rain-filled ditch where five young passengers died. Charges of intoxication manslaughter were being prepared against Chanton Jenkins, age 32 in Houston Texas. There was 9 1/2 feet of water in the ditch and the fast-moving water carried some of the bodies away. They are still looking for some of them. Their ages were 1, 3, 4, 7 and 11. The driver, another adult passenger and a 10 year old girl escaped after it entered the drainage ditch. The adult passenger said the driver, Jenkins, was the father of the children. How very sad.

Iowa Votes to Allow Gay Marriage

This is going to bring in an influx of people from other states to marry in Iowa. Their marriages will not be good in their own states, more than likely, so I don't know why they bother. It is a shame to Iowa, in my opinion, that they voted this in. It is my belief, as the Bible says, that marriage is between one man and one woman. It was Adam and Eve back in the beginning and I believe it was always meant to be. I have to answer to my God and they have to answer to him too. I wonder how they are going to explain themselves to him?

If you are a style conscious shopper, then you are particular about the jewelers you choose to purchase from. As a particular individual, I do not want to see everyone walking around in the same jewelry I am wearing. I know that one local store sells a lot of jewelry and it seems that everyone is wearing the same necklace these days. I would rather be different and have people notice my special beautiful sets of necklace and earrings. That is why this website is so outstanding. They do not sell in retail stores and they do a fabulous job of making each piece a work of art.

We received a beautiful bouquet of all kinds of flowers today from our brother and sister-in-law. They live in Wisconsin and always send fresh flowers to enjoy in your home. They sent these because my husband is going to have some serious surgery next week. The flowers are just lovely and I took pictures of them and sent it to the on an email so they could see how they look. There are red roses, purple orchids, baby breath and several other yellow and green flowers that are so pretty. They should stay fresh for a long time.

Cancer Catscans

How much to you really know about catscans? I thought I knew as much as anyone but found out I don't. They give you stuff to drink that will light up your organs that would not normally show up on the scans. They said it slices your body, takes out the slice, looks at it and puts it back. Interesting, huh? I would like to be the operator who is looking at all that stuff.

Shower Chair

When I had my surgery, I wanted to take a shower so badly. However, I was feeling quite weak and had to have a lot of assistance. They brought in a shower chair and it was a real lifesaver. I was able to sit down and enjoy my shower without feeling faint. For instance, you may need a blood pressure monitor. They have those and much much more. They have added new products since they first started too. Check them out for all your medical needs.

Hawaii - Earthquake

Did you hear they had a 5.0 earthquake on the big island of Hawaii? I guess they have a lot of them. I can remember taking a bus trip around the volcano area on Oahu when were there 9 years ago. Hawaii is such a beautiful place. My brother-in-law got to go there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. He flew in helicopters and took in all the site. They had a great time and he loved it. I knew he would. My husband just couldn't get over how beautiful and green it is there. My cousin spends at least a month there in the winter on Maui. I would enjoy going again if I had the chance.

Colon Cancer

Be sure to keep up on your regular colonoscopies as you never know. My husband had one Thursday and the doctor thought it was too early since his last one 4 years ago. However, they found colon cancer, a large tumor in the large colon. We have to wait 10 days to 2 weeks for the results of the biopsies and then it will be surgery. They tell us today colon cancer is very curable.

MRI for Back Problems

Tomorrow my husband is going to have an MRI because his sciatic nerve has really been bothering him. It hurts to sit on almost any chair but his recliner. It hurts to ride in the car farther than 5 miles. He has tried a number of various leg exercises and for awhile it seems to help but then it is right back again. He has already had x-rays of his back and had surgery 5 years ago on a ruptured disc. He is anxious to see what this MRI will show.

Weather or Not

We have three weather men and women with degrees on our local station and they are quite proud of the job they do. However, they really missed it this weekend. They said we would get anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow and I don't think we even got an inch. Not that we are complaining, mind you. We are very happy it missed us. We got just enough on the ground to cover it for a few hours and then it all melted away. That is one happy thing about snow in April and Spring.

CD Players

My brother told me he got me a present. It is a portable CD player. But not only that, he has made me some CD's of classical music I like so that I can listen to it while I am on the computer. My husband has never cared for classical music, but likes gospel and country music more. It will be very nice to have some good classical music I can listen to. I am looking forward to it.

Wednesday we buried a very beloved brother and brother-in-law. He was 82 and had put up a good fight but his lungs and heart finally gave out. He had a great sense of humor and could keep you laughing. He was a feed salesman and a good one. Also raised hogs so he knew all about the feed business first hand. Was a farmer when he was young. We are all going to miss him a lot as he was one of a kind. God threw away the mold when he made him. He's in Heaven now walking streets of gold so we are happy for him.

Court Blocks Rule Allowing Guns in Parks

A federal judge blocked a federal rule allowing people to carry concealed, loaded guns in national parks and wildlife refuges. The decision was made by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. It halts a change in regulations issued in the last days of the Bush administration and orders further review. She set an April 20 deadline for the Interior Department to review the rule and indicate its course of action in response to the injunction.

The rule took effect January ll,2009. It allowed visitors to carry a loaded gun into a park or wildlife refuge as long as the person had a permit for a concealed weapon. Also the state where the park or refuge was located must allow concealed firearms. Previously, guns in parks had been severely restricted.

Cape Canaveral, Spacewalk

On Thursday, the spacewalking astronauts installed the last set of solar wings at the international space station. This accomplished the top job of shuttle Discovery's mission. Richard Arnold II and Steven Swanson struggled with some cable connections, but managed to hook everything up. Now the next milestone will be today. They will unfurl the folded up solar wings. Sure hope they work fine.

Sciatic Nerve

Have you ever had a problem with your sciatic nerve? Well, it is no fun. It can give you pain clear down your leg to your toes and it doesn't let up. My husband has been having quite a time with the sciatic nerve in his left leg. Presently, he is doing stretching exercises to see if that will help.

It can be quite miserable because it bothers him to sit in a hard chair for any length of time at all. It also starts bothering him about 5 miles down the road whenever we go anywhere. Many have suggested seeing a chiropractor but he hasn't decided yet if he wants to do that. Some people have great results from them, while others don't. Guess we will just have to wait and see if the exercises work for him.

Asteroid Buzzes the Earth

Did you know that an asteroid about the size of one that blasted Siberia a century ago just buzzed the Earth? It was about 48,800 miles from Earth when it zipped past early Monday. It is named 2009 DD45. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory reported the near miss. That is about a fifth of the distance to the moon, and is just twice as high as the obits of some telecommunications satellites.

Astronomer, Timothy Spahr of the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics said that was pretty darn close. However, it was not as close as a tiny meteroid 2004 FU162, which came within 4,000 miles in 2004.

The space rock measured between 69 feet and 154 feet in diameter. The Planetary Society said that made it about the same size as the asteroid that exploded over Siberian in l908 and leveled more than 800 square miles of forest. They started tracking it in late February and Spahr knew within an hour of that discovery that it would pose no threat to Earth.

Last year, the asteroid 2008 TC3 harmlessly burned up in Earth's atmosphere over Africa 19 hours after it was discovered. The next time an object will get closer to Eath will be in 2029 when an 885 foot asteroid called 9942 Apophis comes within 20,000 miles.

Sunday, March 8, 2009

First we had pouring rain this morning and there are big lakes in the fields already. The ground is frozen so it can't soak in. Now we have snow flakes the size of nickels and the ground is getting white in no time already. At least at this time of the year it will melt away much faster at the first sign of sunshine. It is a very gray day today.

We got to church and had a special service and sure glad it held off till we got home. We drive about 10 miles and if the rain had frozen, the roads would have been treacherous. Only about 13 more days till the first day of Spring.

Weather or Not

Finally,it is 50 degrees out and the snow is really melting now. Everything is puddles of water but we have lots more snow left. Had some good days to stay in and catch up on stuff like Income Taxes. Got those done and filed.

The sun is shining and the wind is from the southwest and blowing in some warm air for a change. It may even get rid of the snow on the north side of the garage. It is always shaded there part of the time and gets quite slick. I guess I better get going and get the mail.

NASA Space Shuttle Launch

NASA is aiming to launch the space shuttle Discovery next month after repeated delays caused by critical valves. Wednesday shuttle managers said they hope to launch on March 12, a full month after the original launch date of February 12. It is better though, to be safe than sorry. Everything should be working 100% before they launch. We don't want any more disasters and deaths. If the shuttle isn't flying by March 13 or 14, it will have to wait until April to make way for a Russian Soyuz rocket that is supposed to blast off with a fresh crew for the international space station.

Sports Gifts

I have one son who is really into sports. It would be nice to get him a birthday, Father's Day or Christmas present that is really different. In looking for sports gifts I found this website. You can get afghans and blankets with photos of your favorite sports team on them. Not only that but you can get beach towels and even pillows with sports photos on them. I know he would love any of these gifts and they are open from 9 to 9 EST, 7 days a week so it is easy to order.
