Tropical Storm Melissa

Forecasters said Tropical Storm Melissa weakened into a depression Sunday far out in the open Atlantic while the remnants of Tropical Storm Karen dwindled away in the central Atlantic. Melissa was centered about 570 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands and posed no immediate threat to land. The system was moving west-northwest near 13 mph and its maximum sustained wind had slowed to 30 mph - down from 45 mph on Saturday.
