Family on the Way

Oldest son and family on there way here. Going out to lunch and have a good visit. It is still sunny but they are talking rain. It looks like we may luck out and have the rain late tonight. However, they are talking really severe chances of storms tomorrow and Monday too. The whole USA is a mixture of storms. Snow out west seems funny since it is almost May 1.

Family Birthday

Today is my brother's birthday.  I only have one brother and enjoy treating him on his birthday.  After church, went and got lunch and took it over to his house.  Also took a funny card and presents.  We had a great visit.  We watched a funny TV show I hadn't seen before.  He was ready for a nap by the time I was ready to leave :0)

Adoption

Adopting children is such a wonderful way to give little children a new wonderful life. .  It is especially wonderful when they did not have the best months of the beginnings of their lives.  But now they are with a family who loves them very much and they won't remember the hard times they went through.  What a blessing that is.  They make a total now for me of 15 great grandchildren and another will be born in November making 16.  It is amazing to live to see so many of your great grandchildren and watch them grow up.  The oldest is 16 now already.

High School Class Luncheon

Our graduating class decided to start having lunch together every 6 months.  All are invited and whoever can come will show up.  We have had it at the same place now for a year and a half.  So they decided it was time for a change.  We are going to meet this time at the Golf Course building.  I hope they are able to arrange a good lunch as all were getting tired of the same sandwiches each time.  I wasn't sure about going the first time but the more you go, the more you enjoy it. So I am looking forward to it.  It is my home town so I will have time to stop and see my sister too before leaving for home.

Photos

Isn't it great that we can take photos everywhere these days.  If you don't have a camera with you someone with a Smartphone will take pictures and send them to you.  We were delighted to visit with relatives from another State on their way to vacation with their kids.  My daughter took this picture in the restaurant.  We were having great food there and conversation.

Family

My oldest son is staying with me this week.  He has done a bunch of little odd jobs around the house for me. He has fixed some things I would have never thought of.  Got both screen doors to close properly.  Helped me clean out the liquid softner in the washing machine that was all plugged up.  Put in new light bulb I couldn't reach.  We are having fun eating out at different places too.  Having a good time.

Family Visit

It is a beautiful sunny day today.  It is 55 degrees already and that is really something compared to the weather we have been having so far this year.  We have been running way below normal and began to wonder if Spring is going to skip us this year.  I am going to go visit some classmates today.  Then, I will go visit my sister and her dog, Daisy.  Daisy always gets so excited to see me.  She's a neat dog.  If I have enough time on my way home I would like to stop and see a sister-in-law in a nursing home who is 92.  Her 89 year old sister just died about a month ago.  She also has another sister who is 94 in Dallas.  Lots of longevity in their family.

Valentines Day

Just take a look at the beautiful flowers my son-in-law got for my daughter on Valentine's Day.  He brought them to her job.  What a beautiful gift.  My husband was never one to do that.  In 61 years, he bought me 2 boxes of chocolates about 40 years apart. All the girls in the office got flowers but me.  It was a real downer day and I still don't enjoy it.  I am happy for those who do.

Future FootballPlayer

Here is one of my little great grandsons.  He's gotten a new cap made like a football.  He is probably the next generation of football players.  His big brother looks like he could play football too.  If they get tall like their Dad, they will be great basketball players.  For now, they have a lot of fun playing with the football and basketball and also a soccer ball, so you never know. Time will tell.

Taco Tuesday

I have been joining my brother for Mexican at Taco Johns in the town where he lives.  They have a special on Tuesdays where the tacos are about half price and you are not limited to how many you buy.  It is a very busy lunch time there so we try to get there early.  This week we need to go on into a bigger town next door to make some Christmas gift exchanges, so we will go to the Taco Johns there.  Their food is delicious no matter which one you go to.  We look forward to Tuesdays.

Party Time

Had a triple birthday party Saturday night. My daughter's twins turned 30 and one of the wives turned 28.  my daughter made her famous homemade taco shells and we filled them with all kinds of goodies, along with eating chips and dips and pop.  Then came the desserts.  Pumpkin bars, chocolate cake and angel food cake so each one had their favorite dessert.  What a feast.  It was a lot of fun and all the little kids had a ball.

Duesenberg Auto

Our little town is the home of the Duesenberg Auto. The Duesenberg brothers invented this car in their little shop on Main Street. I remember seeing their building when we moved here but it has since been torn down and replaced with a new building. The town, however, has not forgotten these famous men. Every year, about the 2nd weekend of July, they have Duesey Days. There is a car show, lots of food vendors, plenty of fun for the kids and a judging on Friday night to decide who will represent the town as Little Miss Duesey. Our 6 year old neighbor girl has applied and I hope she wins. I want to go tomorrow morning and see her in the Parade. More of my family will be there and we have a good shady place to sit where we can see everything very well. There is a band tonight and tomorrow night there will be a dance for the adults. A good time is always had by all.

Birthday Celebration and Easter

Saturday we had a combination Birthday party for our grandson who turned 26 and a delicious Easter dinner. Then it was a ball watching the great grandchildren open their Easter baskets. They paraded all around the house and it was fun to watch them enjoying themselves so much. With 2 two year olds and 2 four year olds, it was plenty noisy but its only a little while and enjoyed watching them. Great Grammy (me) was plenty tired by 4 o'clock so went home to take a nap:0). A great time was had by all.

See My New Cousin

Emry was so tickled to see his new cousin for the first time. At least it was the first time he could hold him. He was pretty proud to be big enough to hold the baby. These little cousins are growing up together and there are 4 that just have a ball together. Two of them are 4 and two are 2 years old and now the baby.

Mexican Lasagna for Supper

Have you ever had Mexican Lasagna? If you haven't, then you have missed out on a great hot dish. I made some last night. I like to make it in advance and let it sit overnight and let the juices soak into the tortillas. When it is baked, you would think it is lasagna noodles. You line a 9 x 13 pan with a layer of tortillas, then cover it with half a meat mixtures you cook. Then put a layer of shredded cheese over that. Then you add a second layer of tortillas and the rest of the meat mixture. Bake the next night for supper and just when it is hot, put a cup of shredded cheese over the top and leave it in the oven just long enough to melt the cheese. Serve it up to your family and enjoy. The house smells wonderful and it tastes even better than it smells.

Engagement Pictures

All couples love to have some engagement pictures taken. This is my grandson and his fiance. He designed her engagement ring and it is beautiful. They are busily planning their wedding for this summer. It is going to be in a unique place. I am invited to go and am very excited about it.

Traveling in December

My brother and I traveled today to see my daughter and her husband. We wanted to see how they had decorated their home for Christmas. The weather was 48 degrees and sunny and it was just beautiful driving there. It takes about 2 hours to get there and there was no snow. This is very unusual for us in December as we usually have about 13+ inches of snow in December. We love it!!! It was a great trip and visit and all their Christmas decorations were just beautiful. I am so glad we got to go. Living in this State, it is highly unlikely we could go again till Spring as I am sure after New Years chances are we will get more snow than we want.

Summer Fun Outside

This has been perfect weather for all the kids and grandkids to play outside and have a good time. They can run and play until they are so tired they drop right off to sleep at night.

The little ones are so tired they should take a nap in the afternoon, but they won't give up playing. We adults wish we had that much energy. They never seem to run out. They have so much space on the farm to run and play and have a good time.

Memorial Weekend

We were blessed to have spent yesterday with grandchildren, children, and great grandchildren. It was extremely windy but we survived it. The kids had a great time playing in the new water fountain. We saw the baby chicks that are really growing. The acreage is beautiful and a huge yard for the kids to play in. Everyone was having fun on the big swing set and also in the hammock. Lots of good food was grilled and also they made homemade ice cream. Yum. A great day was had by all.

Tired Out

It is a hard job playing all day. His grandpa and grammy have been staying with he and his sister for a couple of days and they have been playing with them and having a wonderful time. It looks like he is ready for nap and I bet grandpa and grammy may take a nap with him. Grandchildren are so much fun but it can be really tiring trying to keep up with their fast pace. They have so much energy to burn and we slow down as we age.
