Diabetes - Hope For a Simple Breath Test
According to scientists, they say it may be possible to use a breath test to monitor blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Wouldn't that be great and so simple? US researchers have discovered people with type 1 diabetes exhale higher levels of methyl nitrates when their blood sugar levels are too high. There is a team from the University of Irvine in California that hope their work could replace the need for regular blood tests. You can see the study in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Microsoft Bows to Pressure on XP
Microsoft has been forced to extend the shelf life of Windows XP by five months due to customer demand. They were scheduled to stop selling the six year old operating system on January 30, 2008 to leave the field clear for Vista. Now the date on which many sellers of XP can no longer be able to offer XP has been lengthened to June 30, 2008. They said the change was to help those customers that needed more time to make the switch to Vista. My brother's new computer came with Vista on it and he isn't happy with it. I've heard other complaints too.

Search Engine Marketing
In starting a business online, there are so many factors to consider. How am I going to get the people to my site? Shall I advertise on one of the big search engines or can I afford that. I am sure they would assign a specialist to me for my account and it would probably cost me more than I would make for a long time. There has got to be a better way. A friend told me about this online website search engine marketing that specializes in just what I need. They have specialists who will work to get links to my site that will help increase my business. But I asked him, what is this going to cost? And he said, it would be a very competitive cost but I would get much more service from them as the would treat me with the same level of experience and expertise that they give to their large clients. I got right on line and sure enough, this is the company for me.

Holocaust Survivor Lived by Nazi
A man who survived the horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp, ended up living next door to a former Nazi camp guard in Arizona. He said when martin Hartmann moved into the retirement complex four years ago, he noticed a picture of his neighbor in an SS uniform on the wall. He was shocked but he never reported the incident. What he didn't know, however, was that investigators from the justice department were on Mr. Hartmann's trail and this week the US expelled him. Now 88 years old, he was forced to move back to Germany last month and stripped of his US citizenship.

The Sun
The sun this time of the year is just right about 6:30 or 7 PM to totally blind you. It doesn't matter how good your sun glasses are, it seems to go right through them. It is a dangerous time of night for people to be out walking or riding bikes as drivers are so blinded by the sun. It seems like people are killed almost every year because of it but there is nothing you can do but be extra careful.

Fat Camp
Everyone seems to be concerned today about their weight in regard to their heart health and health in general. If you, a member of your family, friends or relatives have gained more weight than they should have, then fat camp is the place to look into. They have a great weight loss summer camp for anyone from 8 to adult. It is especially important to help overweight children lose that weight and renew their self-esteem. They are the parents of the future and if they don't learn now that proper meals and fitness go together to make healthy adults, then how will they take care of their families when they grow up and marry? This camp has camps for both boys and separate camps for girls. Check into this website for lots more information.

Air Conditioning
Thank God for air conditioning. It was cool this morning and we opened all the windows and enjoyed the fresh air. Holly always goes to the window and sniffs the fresh air. It is funny to watch her. But by tonight it is over 80 and getting miserable so we closed up everything again and have the air conditioning running and it feels so good. I am sure glad someone invented it. Years ago, we just sweat it out. It's a wonder we ever got to sleep at night.
Pope Benedict XVI Refuses Meeting With Rice
Condoleeza Rice asked to talk with Pope Benedict XVI. However, her recent request was turned down. She wanted to discuss the Middle East and Iraq. The Pope refused a request for an audience during the August holidays. The Pope does not normally receive politicians on his annual holiday at the residence near Rome. But one leading Italian newspaper said it was an evident snub by the Vatican towards the Bush administration.

Cellular Sales
Usually when you go out to buy a new cell phone, you go back to the same dealer you had before. Either that, or you decide to try someone new that a friend highly recommended. In either case, I usually end up with a new phone and a booklet telling me how to operate it and I can't figure out most of it for the life of me. I have found this online website cellular sales that not only specializes in cellular phone sales, but now they are offering free expert delivery of Verizon Wireless Products. What I really like about it is that I can shop on the internet for my new phone and then they offer the services of a local mobile expert. This person will deliver the phone at the same time you sign the contract and then he/she will teach me how to use the phone. Now that speaks loudly to me because I always need a lot of help with a new phone. My kids usually have to teach me and they aren't always around when I need them most. I think this is a great service and I believe this website will be my next choice to buy my new phone.

C S I and ER
These are two of my favorite programs. I just love to follow alone with the CSI people as they figure out the case. My husband thinks it gets to gory sometimes but I don't mine that. I think I would have enjoyed being a surgical nurse in another lifetime if I had the chance when I was young to go to college. Although at that time, I didn't think about being a nurse. I love to follow any medical shows too and ER is my favorite.
It's Raining, It's Pouring
Wow! It is really raining hard. Holly has been glued to my side ever since it started. It is a more quiet rain though without all the thunder and lightning but she still gets scared. I think what scares her is the rain hitting the windows so hard. I bet the farmers hate it though as harvesting has been in full swing and the corn was not quite dry enough yet to harvest.
Foot Care Product
You know as well as I do that a new pair of shoes often means blisters. There is nothing so sore and irritating as a blister. It is very painful to walk or do anything. When your feet hurt, you hurt all over it seems. Now there is a new Foot Care Product on the market that not only will help blisters heal but can even prevent them from becoming blisters. This online website has announced its new ENGO patches and have been given awards for them. They can prevent blisters by preventing the friction from rising to blister levels. They are long lasting and proven up to 4 to 6 weeks. Just peel, apply and go and they are guaranteed. So if you are breaking in new footwear, get some ENGO patches first, before those blisters start and you will really be happy you did. Many have said that they are amazing and work so well. Try them yourself and see.
Grocery Shopping
It won't be long and it will be time to go grocery shopping again. I bought so much stuff before I had my hand surgery that we are still using it up. You always have to buy fresh meat though, milk and eggs and bread. It seems that is never ending. But I have cut back a lot on my trips to the store since gas has gone so high. The car gets a rest too that way. My hand is doing very well and soon I will be able to carry a gallon of milk with it again.
Lawns
Our lawn just dried up and looked like it died for about 6 weeks. It was the color and texture of straw and we thought sure it was done for. But after 6 weeks of drought, we finally got some rain and it began to turn green in spots. It took quite a few rains, but now it is back to normal and growing so fast you have to mow quite often again. My husband loves a beautiful lawn.
Magician Long Island
This man is one of the greatest magicians around the United States. He graduated from Villanova University and the Mystery School. He headlines fundraisers and benefits for all kinds of charities, as well as appearing for corporate events. His "Magic Beyond Imagination" promises to thrill any audience. ou can check into his website magician Long island and see for yourself. He does all the ordinary feats of magic, along with sawing a person in half and reading minds. But he astounds audiences when he makes the guest of honor appear in a puff of smoke. I always like it when they pull the rabbit out of the hat and then show you that it is a real rabbit. He has a very versatile amount of varying routines such as great comedy and story telling with positive themes. He says he mostly enjoys the look of wonder on people's faces and their laughs at his humor. That makes it all worthwhile. If you are looking for someone to entertain a large group or would like to attend his shows, you won't be disappointed as he does an excellent job of illusions and much much more.
The Insurance Adjuster
The insurance adjuster came yesterday and measured our back bumper on the car to see just where it was hit by the transit bus in town. The bus didn't show any damage but we have a witness who saw it. It didn't tear the bumper at least but just gouged some of the paint off it. We are to take it in Thursday to see how much it will cost and how long it will take. We'll have a rental car in the meantime. The insurance has taken good care of us. The car was parked and the bus didn't stop after he hit it. He said he didn't even know he hit it.
It's Raining
It's raining and my husband has a doctor's appointment this morning. He says he is going to have to run between the rain drops to get there. They said it would rain this afternoon but it is a little earlier. It is a very gray day after all the sunshine we have had. The air conditioner is running already this morning as the air seemed to be kind of muggy and stale this morning.

Online University
There are a lot of professional people who are unable to get away from work to get or finish their degrees. Some of those, especially, are fire fighters, police or military. But there are many others with demanding jobs that just don't allow them to take the time off to get their degree or go to a college to complete their degree. That is why it is so essential to be able to go to an online university to complete their studies. They can do this in the privacy of their own homes and at their own schedules. This online university offers degrees in a variety of fields from business administration to occupational safety and health. They have a great deal more to offer so the best thing to do is get online and check them out and get the information you specifically need to get the degree you need or desire.

Heritage Farms
The founder of Winnebago Industries, John K Hanson, now deceased, had a dream to have a Heritage Farm. While he was still alive, they moved his boyhood farm onto this land and began to add old school houses, churches and a museum. The have added much more and have steam engines and at different times of the year the open it up especially for certain things such as running the steam engines and other old machinery and performing the normal farming harvest with these old machines. It is very interesting.
Vineyards
Vineyards seem to be popping up everywhere in this area. We never used to have State wines as far as I know. Now there are more and more vineyards turning out all kinds of wine in our state. I know one man not too far from here who has started his own vineyard and I guess he is doing quite well with it. I knew we could grow grapes but didn't know they did that well in this state.
Restaurant Supplies
It is a real big job getting a restaurant going and keeping it going. You need a large inventory and have to keep up with it or you will go broke. It would be a good idea to check out Restaurant Supplies to see all they have to offer you. They stock thousands of supplies and restaurant equipment in their warehouse so you can get them as quick as you need them. Besides that, they have the buying power to drop-ship thousands of products they don't normally carry and they can do it at competitive prices. That is what you need to keep your budget balanced and keep your overhead down as much as possible. You have enough to worry about hiring new help as there seems to be a large turnover in restaurants. And if you don't keep your restaurant equipped and have all the needed supplies on hand to turn out good food, then you are in trouble. Customers do not return if they aren't satisfied. So check out this site because they can be of great assistance to you to keep things running smoothly.

Classic Cars
Do you like classic cars? They are always fun to look over. The owners keep them so spotless and shining. We used to drive a classic car and didn't know it. I wish we had it now. It would be a lot of fun to drive around in it. The owner of the local Pizza Ranch has started up a monthly classic car show in our town on main street. It is fun to stop and go through them and see if you can guess how old they are. I didn't know so many people around here owned classic cars.
Sunflowers
My brother and sister-in-law have been traveling out west. They went through Nebraska and then Colorado and said they saw huge fields of sunflowers. It was just gorgeous there. We are thinking they probably raise them for the sunflower seeds everyone loves to eat roasted and salted. What do you think? They went up quite high in the mountains too and the air got so thin they had a bit of a problem breathing while hiking since the air is thin of oxygen up there. You have to take it easy.

Weight Loss Surgery
Until now there hasn't been a solution for excessively overweight people. I know many of them have tried ever diet in the book without any results. The LAP-BAND System is the key to losing all that excess weight. It's not only adjustable but can be reversible if the need arises. This is so much safer because there is no need to cut or staple. The Van Ride
We rode with my brother in his van today about 50 miles. It rides very well and comfortable He is a good driver as he has driven semi all his life. He is going to help with the harvest again this year. The drivers are going to roll the tarp for him so he doesn't have to get out of the semi once he is in it. They really like him because they can always depend on him to be there and be there early. And he will work any hours. That is something a lot of guys don't want to do. His friend brought a little stool so I could get into the van easier because I am very short. That was really nice.

Baby Shower
I went to a Baby Shower Sunday for the sweetest girl. She is having a baby boy in 4 weeks. It is amazing how many new things they have now for babies. She got such a variety of great gifts, clothes, wash cloths, blankets, a beautiful quilt and to top it off a baby stroller or buggy, that the top came off and was a baby car seat. They didn't have anything like that when I had all my babies. It's really something. A wonderful present.

BBC Switches Off Climate Special
The BBC has scrapped plans for Planet Relief, a TV special on climate change. The decision comes after executives said it was not the BBC's job to lead opinion on climate change. The show would have involved viewers in a mass "switch-off" to save energy. The BBC said it cut the special because audiences prefer factual output on climate change. Environmentalists slammed the decision as cowardice.

On Tuesday, China denied a report that its military had hacked into Pentagon computers, saying the allegations were groundless and that Beijing was opposed to cybercrime. The attack forced officials to take down the network for more than a week.

Lawmakers Return to Face Iraq and Mortgage Issues
Members of Congress, like many schoolchildren, were back at their desks after a summer break. Unlike the students, however, lawmakers will immediately face major tests on Iraq, children's health care, a home mortgage crisis and the budget. Minutes after Senate session opened, several dozen anti-war protesters were escorted by police from the spectators' gallery after standing silently as Majority Leader Harry Reid brought up the subject of Iraq.
Henin Tops Williams
Maybe Serena Williams isn't as healthy as she thought. Maybe she wasn't as match-tested as she really needed to be. One thing for sure. When it comes to playing Justine Henin at Grand Slams this year, Williams has been over-matched every time. Finding all the right angles and hanging tough on long rallies, Henin beat Williams 7-6 (3), 6-1 Tuesday night to reach the U.S. Open semifinals. They have met in the quarterfinals at three consecutive majors and Henin is 3-0.
Vast Ice Island Trapped in Arctic
An island of ice the size of Manhattan has drifted into a remote channel and jammed itself in. The Ayles Ice Island changed the Arctic map by breaking free from the Canadian coast two years ago. Scientists have been tracking the progress of this monster iceberg and fears that it could edge west towards oil and gas installations off Alaska. The creation of the island is seen by many scientists as a key indicator of the rapid warming of the Arctic.
Compare Cash Back Credit Cards
With interest going up almost every day on credit cards, I have begun searching for a new one that will give me the most benefits. Mine has just gone from a fixed rate to a variable rate and I don't always get the full amount paid each month. So I don't want to be stuck some months with a high rate of interest on my unpaid balance. I have found a great credit card site Compare Cash Back Credit Cards that has the best selection of credit cards around. I decided I would be better off with one that gave me cash back so I started searching their site. I found quite a few that would reward me with anywhere from 3% to 5% plus some even give you zero interest APR for 6 months. How can you lose with that kind of a deal? Many do not have an annual fee either and that is the kind I want. Check into their site for yourself. Maybe the card you are carrying isn't the best one either.
