January
January has brought us some better weather. After a blizzard, it has begun to warm up and melting the snow everywhere. I missed 3 days of church in December and the first Sunday of January due to weather. New Year's Eve was spent eating, playing games and boy was it cold. We had below zero temps and wind chills for weeks but now it is starting to warm and melt the snow. We still have February and March ahead of us. The Almanac said we would have a bitter cold winter and they were 100% right. We had a miserable November and then December was pretty good but January brought us more snow. There is still alot of winter left so who knows what that will bring.

Thanksgiving Dinner
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. There was so much delicious food. We played some really fun games and had so many laughs. Of course, then it was time to bring out the cameras and take the pictures of all the families. They always do a funny one too. I never know what to do in that one. A granddaughter wanted a picture of her two grandmothers kissing her so that was different. A good time was had by everyone.

Fish Fry Today
Our neighbor tries to have a neighborhood fish fry once a year. He is quite a fisherman and catches a lot of yellow bass. He fries them up in bite size pieces and it is just delicious. Then the invited neighbors bring the rest of the pot luck dishes and desserts and everyone has a great time. They have set up a screened in tent this year under a good shade tree. We have been having way above normal temperatures and today the wind is to switch to the NW and start cooling down for a day or two. It is 72 now and I see the trees are beginning to move a little. It will be a fun day with good food.

Birthday
I celebrated my biggest birthday yet. There was all kinds of great food. All my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were there. Several friends joined in and extended family. A good time was had by all. Lots of visiting and eating. A gorgeous birthday cake made of both chocolate and white. It was a big day and I sure had fun.

Family Picnic
We had a great family picnic out on our nephew's acreage on July 5th. That gave everyone a chance to go to fireworks and have their own plans for the 4th of July. Everyone brought food and drinks and there was so much to eat and no duplicate dishes. So you could go back for seconds, if you wanted to, and get an entirely different plate. Lots of bars and homemade cookies too.
We got to visit with nephews and nieces from Indiana and Michigan and a good time was had by all. We sat out in lawn chairs under the shady trees and a nice breeze was blowing. The men all got together later in the afternoon and played their own game of football. There were at least a dozen so had good teams and several of the younger ones play football in school so it was fun. Many pictures were taken and cameras were snapping all over the place. We look forward to doing this again next July 5, 2010.

Harlem Tours
When you think "Harlem" what comes to your mind? Gangs, drive by shootings, or something like that. It is nothing like that. This online website Harlem Tours is based in Harlem because they live there and know Harlem inside and out. They know all the historical places to visit and are able to show you the outstanding beautiful architecture that goes back many years. Unlike other tours, they really know the real Harlem and are ready to set you up with a tour you won't easily forget and will want to return for more. They have a great many day tours and you can choose the kind of tour you would enjoy most whether it be Gospel and Brunch or Soul Food and Jazz Tour. This description is only the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. Check out their site for all the tours they have to offer or design your own.
