Drunk Driver Kills Kids
A drunken driver, using his cell phone, lost control of his vehicle and plunged it into a rain-filled ditch where five young passengers died. Charges of intoxication manslaughter were being prepared against Chanton Jenkins, age 32 in Houston Texas. There was 9 1/2 feet of water in the ditch and the fast-moving water carried some of the bodies away. They are still looking for some of them. Their ages were 1, 3, 4, 7 and 11. The driver, another adult passenger and a 10 year old girl escaped after it entered the drainage ditch. The adult passenger said the driver, Jenkins, was the father of the children. How very sad.

Death in the Family
We just got word that our daughter-in-law's father died about an hour ago at the age of 81. He had a lot of illness these past 2 years and then was hit by a car in his wheel chair a few weeks back. It was all downhill from there when he was just having a good recovery from a stay in the local hospital. Last week my Aunt died at age 90, living a good life nearly up to the end and she was ready to go. Then the week before that our son-in-law's mother died at age 90 of alzheimers. That is a terrible disease and she is at rest now. Yesterday we found out a good friend was given a week to live with cancer. Such a sad thing for her family of many children and her husband. I would guess her to be about 70. Death seems to come in three's or at least we imagine that everything seems to come in three's. Does it seem that way to you?

Trial Begins In Fatal Hotel Fire
Jury selection begins today for the man who is charged with one federal count of arson resulting in death. Brenda Brazell still remembers waking to the screams of "Help! My Baby" and then desperately searching a smoke-filled hotel hallway for her son and granddaughter, who were staying a few rooms away. Brazell's family survived, but the crying woman and her baby boy were among the six guests who died in the early morning hotel blaze in Greenville, South Carolina in 2004.
