Drought

We are really in a state of drought here.  I believe our lawn has been mowed twice this year and that was earlier in the year.  The corn and beans grew so fast this Spring and then they matured too quickly and now the farmers are combining earlier than ever.  We have had a couple hard frost and sounds like more to come this week.  We had above normal temperatures one week and below normal the next.  It was a very hot summer and the air conditioners doing double duty.  I wonder if the Winter is going to be an extra cold and snowy one.  I think the almanac says it will be mild and normal here, whatever that means.  They say if you don't like the weather here where we live, just wait a day and it will change.  That is about right.

Fall Days

We are having some beautiful Fall days. We have had a couple of weeks now of no rain, just lots of sunshine. It has been perfect weather for the farmers to get their crops in. They say they are getting a good yield. Also the corn is so dry they don't have to dry it as much so that save money. The cattle are out in the corn fields that have been combined and they really enjoy that. The kids are at play and it won't be long and it will be too cold to be outside for very long. So we all need to enjoy these days.

100 degrees in The Sun

Our thermometer on the deck says 100 degrees. And it feels like it out in the sun. We mowed the sunny side of the lawn yesterday afternoon about 2:30 and it was half sun and half shade. No breeze. It was terrible. We both mowed so didn't take us very long. It was a good thing because you could melt out there and sunburn too. I wish the grass would slow down growing but we keep getting rains on it but I guess that is good for the crops.
