Babysitting

My neighbor's job closed down and now she is babysitting. I bet she enjoys being at home with her little one year old alot better than getting out in the cold to go to her other job. The Mom's are just now arriving to pick up their little ones. My neighbor is really great with kids so I know they are in good hands.

Goldfinch are Back!

The Goldfinch are back in big flocks. They are covering all 3 of our feeders and it looks like it is the young ones. They have lost most of their beautiful yellow color now and they say that happens in the fall. They all get to look like the females, kind of plain. It mustbe natures way of protecting them in the fall when they go south. It is sure fun to see them all again. The Monarch butterflies are all gone and the hummingbirds and the Goldfinch will leave soon too. Snow flurries have been showing up here and there.

Libyan Islamists Join al-qaeda

A group of Libyan Islamists have joined al-Qaeda according to an audio message on the internet that was attributed to the radical network's second in command. Ayman al-Zawahri supposedly said the Fighting Islamic Group in Libya was becoming part of al-Qaeda. A recorded message called on Islamists to topple North African, as well as, Palestinian leaders. This is a bad group folks, and we are not immune in this country either. We better stay alert. It is scary.

Writers Strike Has Started

The US screenwriters' union has begun its strike which will seriously affect the late night television talk shows. The Writers Guild of America as asked its 12,000 members to stop working and set up picket lines as of yesterday. They intereviwed some of them on television and they want more cash for work which goes on new media such as DVD's or online. Late night shows are expected to be re-runs till this is settled. Last time it lasted 22 weeks I think it was.

Frigidaire Refrigerators

There are so many new styles of ranges out now and mine is getting so old, I would like to replace it. I love Frigidaire Ranges but I wasn't sure where there was a dealer who carried them. My neighbor suggested I go online to Frigidaire Ranges. This is a great search engine that has generated over 275 million pages of relevant local search results. Now that was just what I needed. They have it broken down by category and all I had to look up was "ranges" and I found just what I was looking for. I got the information on the closest store in our area and it wasn't far so we took off right away and went and looked over their stock. We chose the one that best fitted our home and our family and had it delivered to our home and installed. I am so glad my neighbor had experience with this website because it sure saved us a lot of time and money and gasoline.

Condoleeza Rice Urges Middle East Peace Deal

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said that a two state solution between Israel and the Palestinians is now needed more urgently than ever. She urged Arab states to accept a peaceful and permanent home for Israel. Israel has said there can be no deal for a Palestinian state unless its own security is guaranteed. Ms Rice is in the region to prepare the ground for a planned peace conference in the US later this month, but she is not ready to set a date yet for the conference.

Cataracts

Cataracts can steal your sight but it is wonderful today that they have doctors who can perform surgery to remove them and restore your sight again by putting a new little lense in your eyes. My husband has had both eyes operated on now and today he goes for his last checkup. Then he will be able to order new glasses. Mainly the glasses will be for reading but he has very light sensitive eyes so he will have photogray put in them so that they change color inside and out to protect his eyes from bright sunlight. It is quite bright today too but very cold and the wind makes it feel even colder.
