Milk

Have you noticed the price of milk? Gas is cheaper by the gallon than milk. However, milk is so good for you. We go through at least a gallon a week or more and there are just two of us. I often buy a half gallon of chocolate milk too and it goes even faster :0) It is good for your bones and at our ages, we need all the help we can get.

Attention Health Enthusiasts

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of wellnessdaily.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

As many of my friends and relatives know, I always keep up with my regular checkups with my doctor. Imagine my surprise when I was told that my glucose was running high enough to be of concern and I was on the verge of having Diabetes 2 and needed to get this changed. Like most of us, just going along in life, thinking we are doing the right things, I found out there was a whole lot more I could do to improve my health. In checking the Internet, I checked out www.wellnessdaily.com and found a wonderful all encompassing website devoted to wellness. Not only did they give you the usual tips you get from everyone, but they also furnish recipes for healthful cooking and eating. It is easy to check in with them for videos on all kinds of subjects including weight loss, another of my problems. Stress is included there and exercise, of course. Being a blogger myself, it is great to check in and read other blogs about healthy living and news about health. There is information here for everyone. You can even set up your own customized news feed so that you will get the information you desire that is the most relevent to you. Jennie-O Turkey Store is one of the sponsors of this website. For the first 25,000 registered users, they will provide a rebate up to $5.00 on the purchase of one of their products. They are dedicated to helping people with their health and wellness. I have been exercising faithfully for 30 minutes a day, plus following a strict carb diet in order to bring my glucose down. However, I am anxious to get more information on the proper foods to eat and also recipes I can make myself that are more healthful. I know there are many of you out there that are in the same situation I am in and I encourage you to check into this website and sign up and take the pledge so that you may have a healthier life and improve your wellness.

Bone Scans

Have you ever had a bone scan? Well, I haven't either but I am going to have one tomorrow. It is to check out my knee replacement and see if any of the parts have loosened for one reason or another. My knee has acted rather funny at times and is 14 years old now and sometimes gives me pain. However, they are supposed to last a lifetime. But if they do work loose, they have to replace them and it is quite a surgery so I hope it has not worked loose in any way. It takes about 3 hours in all to get it done and part of the time, you can go shopping while the dye circulates through your body. I think it will also be interesting.

Catheters

Among the many medical supplies you may need, could be catheters. This is the company to go to when you need such medical supplies along with so many others. They have a huge inventory of everything you need to set up a First Aid station in your business or at home. Having been in business since l996, they know what the public needs and they are striving to fill those needs. More than a million happy customers purchase regularly from them.

That is one reason they decided to expand and carry medical supplies for new mothers and infants, as well as, exercise equipment for those looking to stay fit. Along with that, blood pressure and heart monitors are also in demand these days as people work to stay fit and healthy.

Church Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Sunday and time to go to church. I caught a heck of a cold though and tonight I feel rotten. I don't know if I will be going. I don't want to give it to anyone else. My husband has been coughing for a couple of weeks so the germs were flying. It seems like no matter how much you wash your hands and try to keep the germs away, they tend to sneak up on you. As someone said once "I forgot how much fun a cold could be" NOT! This week has been so mixed up, it has felt like we have had several Mondays and several Saturdays and maybe next week will get back to normal, whatever that is :0)

New Front-of-Package Food Labels Coming

The nation's dietitians, food makers and retailers want you to know how many calories are in that frozen pizza you enjoyed last night, and they don't want you to have to go looking for it on the label. With obesity rates, eating habits and exercise patterns, a widespread concern for all, they say the will help people make better eating choices by designating thousands of products as part of the new Smart Choices Program and adding nutritional information to the front of packages.

I have been reading labels for over 30 years and even more so the last year when I nearly got diabetes 2. And labels are not that easy to read. It will be great to see labels featuring calories per serving and number of servings so that you can easily find them. The new labels will most likely be on products from food and beverage companies like Kraft Foods Inc., General Mills Inc., Coca-Cola Co and PepsiCo. Inc. starting next year.

The goal of the program is to get you to make smarter food choices and thus improve public health. It sounds like a great idea to me. The labels will hae two parts. There will be a green check mark and the "Smart Choices Program" label for foods that meet certain nutritional requirements within some categories. The other part will highlight the calories per servicing and the number of servings per container.

Catching Colds

A fellow at church said Sunday that he had a cold and didn't want to get too close to us. However, I guess he did get too close because I got a raspy throat yesterday and didn't feel very well today. Now my husband says he is feeling kind of bad too.

So I went to the store and got some ZICAM tablets. They are supposed to nip a cold in the bud. They are quick dissolve and supposed to taste good and they do at first. But then by the time you get to the end of them, they taste just awful. And you are not supposed to drink anything (which is exactly what you want to do) for 15 minutes. If you still have symptoms of a cold, you can take one every three hours until you feel better or 3 times, I guess.

Anyway, I sure hope we feel better because I don't know that I want to take another one of those. You can't chew or swallow them whole either. You just have to let them "quick" dissolve in your mouth. I don't know what their idea of "quick" is but it is different from my idea of it. I think it took all of 10 minutes to dissolve completely.
