Hate Crimes Rising Across Russia

Thugs are blaming migrants for the financial crisis and more than 100 foreigners have been killed due to this. A group of skinheads gunned down a man on a Moscow street, cut off his head and emailed a picture of the gruesome trophy to rights groups. A spike in hate attacks against non-Slavic migrants with Asian or Middle-Eastern features has gotten worse and the experts say it is due to the rapidly spreading economic crises. It is Russia's worst in a decade. Four times as many foreigners have been killed in apparent hate attacked this year than in 2004.

The poor people of impoverished, former Soviet republics have moved to Moscow to take low paying jobs in Moscow's once booming economy but things have changed. The killers who are still at large, warned of more violence unless the Kremlin expels what they called the black occupiers. It is sad when people are just trying to exist and feed themselves and their families are killed for moving to another location in Russia.

U.S. Targets China, Russia, Others on Copyrights

The Bush administration is accusing China, Russia and seven other nations of failing to protect American producers of movies, computer software and other copyrighted material with widespread piracy. The administration placed the nine countries on a priority watch list that will subject them to extra scrutiny and could eventually lead to economic sanctions. That is, if the administration decides to pursue complaints before the World Trade Organization.

Spanish Company Plans More Wind Farms

Fersa Energias Renovables SA, a Spanish renewable energy operator, has signed agreements to build wind parks in Spain and Russia, almost doubling existing development plans. The developer agreed to jointly build wind parks with Green Alliance SGECR SA in Spain and will buy 50 percent of Barner Investment SL by selling shares worth 190,000 euros. In Russia, the company signed agreements with developers it didn't identify.The deal adds 1,575 megawatts worth of potential wind parks to the company's 1,646-megawatts pipeline. The agreement includes purchase options for wind parks jointly developed with the Spanish and Russian promoters.

Georgia Condemns Russian "Raid"

Georgia's President has accused Russia of carrying out an air raid on Georgia territory, saying Moscow was trying to provoke panic. The Georgian President was speaking in a village where a missile from a Russian aircraft was said to have hit the ground close to a house there. Russia denies an part in the incident, saying its jets were not in the area. Georgia says the missile, which did not explode, was from a Russian fighter plan that violated is airspace.
