Michael ran his career Olympic total to nine golds when he won the 200 meter freestyle. Last year he set the mark of l minute 43.86 seconds in last year's world championships. This time he broke the mark at 1 minute and 42.96 seconds.

Olympics Will Ban Dope Cheats

Athletes given more than a six month ban for doping will be banned from the next Olympics, according to the International Olympic Association. The move was announced by IOC president, Jacques Rogge on the eve of the World Athletics Championships in Osaka. Rogge also backed calls for a compulsory four year ban for drug offenses in any sport.
