Volcanoes and Earthquakes
Have you noticed how many huge earthquakes there have been? Another 7.7 hit Indonesia at Sumatra yesterday and now there is a Tsusami warning out. It is no wonder. I think if I was in Indonesia, I would run for the hills after the big one they had just a couple years ago. And volcanoes seem to be erupting in strange places too. I heard yesterday that there are quite a few rumblings going on around this one volcano so they think it may be getting ready to errupt. It's scary. The Ring of Fire is having many earthquakes that aren't even being reported as they are many and smaller.

Earthquake in Los Angeles
A moderate earthquake rattled downtown Los Angeles yesterday. It registered 4.1 and was centered about 10 miles from downtown, near the Los Angeles International Airport.
We used to live just a few short miles from the Airport with the jets flying so low over our home that when you were outside, you felt like you could almost reach up and touch them. Needless to say, while watching television, you could not hear a thing as they passed over. We felt some of those minor quakes while we were living there, but I am glad we moved to the Midwest before the bigger ones have struck there since l970. I guess this one was just an aftershock because two days before, they had a 4.7 earthquake which was also centered near the Airport. It is a very strange feeling to have the ground shake under you and you can hear the ground make a cracking noise also.

Hawaii - Earthquake
Did you hear they had a 5.0 earthquake on the big island of Hawaii? I guess they have a lot of them. I can remember taking a bus trip around the volcano area on Oahu when were there 9 years ago. Hawaii is such a beautiful place. My brother-in-law got to go there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. He flew in helicopters and took in all the site. They had a great time and he loved it. I knew he would. My husband just couldn't get over how beautiful and green it is there. My cousin spends at least a month there in the winter on Maui. I would enjoy going again if I had the chance.

Earthquake
I read today there was a 7.5 earthquake near Indonesia. It seems there a lot of them in that area. There was a tsunami warning out for a while but it was called off. They lost so many people a few years ago when that big tsunami hit them and washed thousands of people into the sea. Then they washed back up on shore and I don't know how they got them all buried. I would not want to live near a place like that. We'll take our chances with tornadoes. They are bad enough in the midwest.
